RDS acting weird on Bose

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area - but the all the posts in the audio forum seems to be related to non-OEM equipment.

A handful of my radio stations broadcast their call sign or name so it will appear on the display. One radio station in particular in Chicago that I listen to is 97.9 and the display says "THE LOOP."

Today, the display changed to "BEE LOOP" and the little number 1 (the numbers that indicate which preset your using, or which CD you're listening to in CD mode) is flashing! All while I'm listening it just flashes at an inconsistant rate. Very strange............ all the other stations with RDS signals still appear the same with no flashing preset numbers.

Just wanted to know if anyone knows what might be up - or better yet, if you live in the Chicago area - does this station act weird on your radio too??

TIA........

Mine's working good. And just recently 3 of the stations in Houston have started to broadcast the name of the band and the song playing along with the name of the station, and it scrolls automatically, unlike the CD text.

Yeah - one of the stations around here does that too. I personally prefer it to just show the name of the station because I don't care for the display moving/changing in the corner of my eye.

Yeah. I'm kinda of glad that our's doesnt scroll through the name, but allows you to do it if you forget the song name. It would be too distracting.

Now what I am trying to figure out is what that little logo is to the top right of the display screen that is round with a retangle off to one side of it. i havent figure out what this is for yet. anyone?

Not sure why I didn't think of doing this before, but on my way to work this morning I set another radio station to #1 and it's fine. I then took the station in question and preset it to #3 and sure enough, the little #3 started flashing also.

How odd is that? It almost seems like maybe the RDS signal that 97.9 is sending is messed up....

Hopefully someone else in the Chicago area will be able to test this for me.

The Clear Channel stations in Washington DC just started transmitting the song titles. They don't really scroll, it's more like the display shows chunks of data. Sometimes they overlap, sometimes it apparently misses some characters.

Does anyone know if the Bose system has any RDS options at all? Scroll speed, on/off, whatever?

I have noticed the same thing on my SE. The local rock station 'WGIR' has changed intermittently to 'GIR....'. I also wonder if it is a Bose issue or it is an issue related to the RDS data being transmitted or interfered with...

Also while I'm here. What is the maximum volume number you can get to on your Bose? Mine is '31' and that's the limit to my volume. Is this the same for you all?

Appreciate the feedback... Thanks

Mine has been acting weird for last couple days. The RDS signal on 103.5 fades in and out, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. WGCI is the same way, sometimes it works and most of the time it doesnt. I have never had a problem with "The Loop" 97.9 or "power92" 92.3.

97.9 Now displays "THE LOOP" like it should, but the number 1 (the preset it's on) doesn't show up. Weird eh? At least it displays the right title and it isn't flashing.

I've noticed the same things with my RDS, chunks of words sometimes overlapping and then one station will have a certain display frozen for a couple of days. We've got a half dozen stations doing it now, I think anything that looks weird to us is because thats the way they're sending it,(or its being interfered with) not our stereos being messed up. Just my .02

I think it is that our stereos are messed up. My wifes car has rds and works great, but my Max will keep the same band name frozen for days.
