Tickets

I have seen recent posts from people receiving tickets for side markers. Here In a nut shell is what you do. You put clear sides, put in the right colored bulbs. If you look at your car stock, the rears are red and the fronts are amber. Plain and simple, you get pulled over explain it to the cop if he still gives you a ticket you explain it to a judge. Don’t put white lights in the sides, you might not ever get a ticket, but when you do, you will pay. Don’t ever put blue colored lights on your car. That means if when activated the light glows blue you will get a ticket, but if the bulbs are blue tinted and glow white when activated you will be fine.

Some Cops don’t know anything about this kind of stuff and have to have it explained to them. Don’t get an attitude with them about it, explain it with a calm tone and you may find your way out of a ticket. I know most of you guys hate cops, think they are *******s, but give them a break. If you guys want to really avoid getting tickets, check with your Highway Patrol and find out what the laws are regarding your lighting.

if you "explain it to them" don't expect them to say "gee, you're right, I'll rip up your ticket now."

and clears are not necessarily legal in all places so you must find out in your state if you really want to make sure you can't be ticketed for it.

Yeah my experience with the cops is not pleasent. I can be Mary Frickin Poppins and still get screwed. I must have something on my forhead that says please mister officer I really do want that ticket no matter of nice I am to you and what I say to get out of it.

I am in Wisconsin and here it seems to be if your in the rural nice areas they will bust you for the smallest of things. Any place in Milwaukee for the most part the cops have to mucj other crap to look into. I was caught goofin of with a friend that has a supercharged Regal and we were well exceeding the speed limit and a Milwaukee Cop pulled us over made us sweat for a little then said stop racing on my streets and take it someplace else. Had this been Brookfield or some other well to do little suburb were they have nothing to do besides watch out for the elderly the cars may have been towed.

But 2k2Wannabe is right check with the state patrol or Sherrifs department and if they say no its illegal as for them to make a copy of the state statute and readit for your self. They cops around my parts will label any car that is even slightly beyond stock a punk kids car.

Anywho thanks for letting me vent.

Never said they will just rip up the ticket, but if you take the right tone with them you might just see your way out of a ticket. Not all cops are the *******s they are made out to be.

I wasn't trying to be a jerk in my answer, sorry if it seemed that way. Also, I think cops are just doing their job, some are a-holes, some are excellent, the other 90% are somewhere in between. I have had more than one cop tell me, though, that he knew before he got out of the car if he was going to give a ticket and you most certainly could talk your way INTO one but you could never talk your way out of one.

So, know the laws in your state, keep colored lights under clear corners, and never used blue.

it doesn't matter what color bulbs u have in there.. if u have clear sidemarkers, it's technically illegal..... the REFLECTORS have to be red and amber... not just the bulbs.............. this has been discussed many many MANY times before...............
putting red or amber bulbs in will only make it less noticeable, but they are illegal just the same......

this is not true. I just spent 1/2 hour looking and couldn't find it, but I know I read the NH law says I have to have red in the rear side markers but can have either amber or white in the front side makers.

I'll find it eventually.
