i have a 2k1 auto.... and the other day... if would not change gears....
it was on first gear till it hit red line and i was driving like a grandma

i turned it off and turned it on agian and it was all good

and i also noticed that my car idles at 1200 when i turn it on .. it used to be at
700-800

any one got any ideas thank you

 

is the cel illuminated?

nothing that i see is illuminated

 

cel= check engine light, same thing as ses=service engine soon
with the idle as high as 1200, i would have thought the light would have gone off. i assume when it would not shift out of 1st gear that you were in D and not 1? if you think its the tranny then check the fluid level and condition. check with the car and on level ground in park. use the marks on the dipstick and smell the fluid to see if it has any burnt smells in it. the idle that high could mean a variety of things.

 

yea i had it on D. i dont know what it is....
but i'll check the tranny fluid level..
oh i also put in my chrome gauge rings the other day..
does that have to do with anything.. did i f u k up the speedomether or someting

 

Vacuum hose off somewhere?? Probably a fairly large one to cause the idle not to slow down. This may in turn "possibly" cause a late upshift on the tranny but redline????? Hmmmmmmm. Double check under the hood and make sure there aint a hose that has come off somewhere.....just a thought.
