i just finished installing my remote start and it is awesome. I have a standard but i was able to find the neutral safety switch which does not allow it to turn on when in gear. One od thing i noticed. When i have remoted started the car and then i get in and place my key in the ignition. I then close the door and place the car in gear. When i do this the doors lock. When i turn the car off the doors unlock. I has never done this before but i was wondering if the automagic automatically locked on startup or gear change (from park to any other gear). Other then this it is awesome

My car doesn't lock when I put it in Drive. Did you install an aftermarket alarm to? If yes, it might be a feature of the alarm.

Yeah, it is a feature of the alarm. My old Viper alarm did the same thing.

I have Viper 550 ESP and my door locks, when the key is on the ignition and I step on the brake pedal to over-ride the remote start.

You're lucky. My 97 F-150 had this feature from the factory. It could be turned off or on by doing a series of key turns and switch pressing.

The Maxima does not offer this, so I have to lock my door locks when I start the car moving. Is there a cheap way to get this feature?

Most any aftermarket remote starter/alarm unit you can enable and disable this functionality if you dont like it. Just read the owners manual on how to do this.
