Did you happen to monitor the air to fuel ratio during your session(s)? If so then what does his graph look like?Originally Posted by MannyNJ2k2max

Did you happen to do a baseline test when you were stock? Maybe you have one of those super maxima's that was mentioned on another thread. According to that thread, a Dealer with a Dyno stated that all Maxima's should rate 220-230 at the wheels.

super factory freak theory is bs(i think)
supposing that all other stock 6 speed dyno stock @ 205-208hp its safe to say that a franken/b pipe combo can yield ~15 whp

those slips already sounding like a strong case against the dealership.
one thing though...has he attempted to return everything back to stock form, especially the UDP. hate to put a bad spot on the situation, but given the mods on the car, they can claim that it ruined the engine, if the engine is ruined. yeah, you can play off the exhaust and prolly even the intake, but the UDP, if nto done right, maybe even placed loosely (as an example) can do some damage.
just saying that his true baseline should be the STOCK form of the car so that there are no traces of giving the dealer a chance to fight back. you'd have to bring UDP, warpspeed, etc... representatives to the dealership to to back up their product....cause "no it doesn't do damage" isn't a solid case.
but seriously bro, good luck. i really hope for the best. must hurt when you drive the car, knowing something is wrong.
manny, got your PM. next time im' in the jersey area, i'll hit you up. been busy working a lot, even to respond to PM's.

That looks a lot like my 2k dyno did when my variable intake was broken.
The internals of my variable intake were somehow damaged and it would not changeover at 5k as it was supposed to. In total, I had nearly a 45 hp loss to the wheels at redline.
His appears to begin falling off at 4k. I'm not familiar enough with the 3.5 to know where the variable intake changeover is. I see the blip around 4k, so perhaps that is where the changeover now takes place. If it is, that could be the problem.
And take it from me, it will be difficult to convince Nissan of the problem - I went through hell.
This is a bad pic of my dyno - but you can see what happens with a defective variable intake.

Hopefully Dennis will get in here and comment on this- he's on the phone trying to get several dealers to even look at his car (they've said no)
he was also the one that posted a while ago
that his pedal sensor was shot- he messed up the car at E-town-

All he did was remove the intake and put the stock airbox back in- thinking
the pulley (wont be noticed) and the exhaust mods are not the problem
I think he should remove everything or he might have probs down the line-
but he's aware that the prob is in the intake maniflod

no dealer wants to deal with this situation. would you wanna get "stuck" with this car. hardly...Originally Posted by MannyNJ2k2max

he has 2 choices. go to the ORIGINAL dealership or NNA. the only 2 choices. dealership has to man up OR with NNA, they will assign a dealership, and they obviously can't say no once NNA jumps in.
The prob he's having is that the bum idiots @ the dealership he bought the car from wont even diagnose his prob cause he hasn't thrown a code-
Polo I see your peeps rockin' the MX6's- That was my last car (V6 5speed w/pacesetter headers) gave it to my brother and he's got it all foccked up now-

Essentially, I was able to show them the difference by running the car against another identical one with the variable intake enabled on the comparison car and then disabled.
I do not know if the 2k2+ variable intake can be enabled/disabled with just a plug the way my 2k can be.

Thanx- his Variable intake is definitly shot- thats why he wanted my dyno to show Vs. his to make a case for his dealership-Originally Posted by Max_Gator

They probably will tell you that Nissan will not consider your dynos. I even offered to dyno my car against any car they chose on their lot - at a dyno of their choosing - at my expense and they refused.Originally Posted by MannyNJ2k2max

On the link above is the whole story - almost made me sell the car.
As for disabling the vias - I figured it out by reading the service manual. To my knowledge no one here - and certainly none of the techs at Nissan - knew that could be done. I'd suggest reading the service manual.
that sucks- I hope Dennis gets this fixed- he's got a lawyer I belive- Its hard when the fockkin dealer doesnt want to give u the time of day...

1) can you go with dennis to the dealership. have them drive your car then his. that's all we ask....30 seconds....if they say "it feels the same" then obviously you can call him on the BS. but it's OBVIOUSLY not the same, so he'll feel a difference. at that point, he can pull the very serious "listen, i don't give 2 ****** whether i'm throwing a code, there is something phucking wrong with this car. you think i phucking like coming to you...i have much better **** to do with my life. you look at this car, and you find what's wrong, and you acknoweldge that there is in fact a problem".Originally Posted by MannyNJ2k2max

***** codes. that's ghey. he b!tches enough, they should at least look at it. "we can't find the problem"...."so then change the engine, WHICH IS ON WARRANTY, or do a better job of looking for the problem".
2) he's beyond "rockin" the mx6. he's runnin 3psi on a custom build turbo by some guy they call dangerous dan and on 3psi alone (no intercooler) he's already ripped a 350z a new **** breather valve
. once the IC goes in, he's uppin it to 6psi, but when he goes to the track, racing gas plus 8psi, and it's over. i say goodbye axles, tranny, clutch, but at this point, he don't care. he owns. very sleeper too. only thing is aftermarket lightweight rims. other than that, stock dings, dents, and rust. no we havn'et raced. i was hoping to race him soon. him, me, and a 2k3 wrx. 3 fast cars. the wrx kid still hasnt' mastered clutch driving, and the mx6, well i can get him on the high end if i hold onto that long enough. we'll see.Quote:

Nissan wouldn't give me the variable intake to find out. The 2k/2k1 are resin and the only way to find out would have been to cut it open and see. I'll bet Nissan did that (hence the new design??).Originally Posted by MannyNJ2k2max

In any event, I'm certain that for one reason or another, the butterflys were not moving at switch over. As a result, the intake runner length stayed the same the entire time. Amazing what a little difference in air flow can do.

i begin to lose power at exactly 3500 rpm , the 3.5 vis kicks on at 3800rpm till redline . the dealer that replaced the coils will look at the car but not till after the holidays, their going to open the engine. i'm definently considering the sti or new acura tl because nissan service is simply the worst

From the dyno it looks like a clear decrease beginning just after 4000 rpms - and the changeover blip appears to be at 3800. I think I'd characterize it that way to Nissan since it more strongly implicates a problem after the switchover is supposed to occur.Originally Posted by quansung 2

I'm willing to bet that no changeover is taking place on your car. So at high rpms you are using the runner length for low rpms. It is pretty clear to me.

Man, I am sorry to hear of your problems. Check out some of the posted dyno runs in the Stillen header thread (sticky) to compare against...
It really is a shame that Nissan sells such a great car, but almost refuses to support it once it leaves their lot in your name. I mean, think about it...if you had a car that has a few problems, but the service department fixes everything right away and diagnoses the problems correctly every time, then you still feel good about the car. If they do what Nissan does, then you think the car as well as the service department are totally crapola...
Thanx!
Calculating a 15% drivetrain loss from crank to wheels that puts me roughly @ 255 hp/ 266 lb/tq at the crank (roughly)

the tech that dynoed my car said that a few days earlier he dynoed a Golf 1.8T that put over 300whp!

I'm a few hundred miles away from 30k and due
for oil change and fuel injector service- I wonder
if it would've ran slighly better if I had done so?

Damn Dennis! I didnt know you were having problems with your Max. Seeing that 187.5whp on your dyno chart really bites; I cant believe you're losing about 35hp @ the crank. Originally Posted by quansung 2

If you CAN unload the Max for the new TL, that would def be the way to go. Good luck, bro!!

well disconnected the VAIS solenoid valve and didn't really notice a difference in how the car drives, looks like it might be the vias system. i'll test it saturday against manny's car with his connected and disconnected.
No doubt!!
