MaxRod33, if your SES light comes on intermittently, I would definately go get it checked by dealer, i know most people do the "disconnect bettery" trick, but I don't know about you, i'd rather be safe and get it checked... also, if I remember correctly, you can print out the last page on PDF#3 titled "customer letter" and take that to the dealer. Nissan is gonna start sending out notices next week, for some it may take time to receive it...

Jettmax, thanks for posting the procedure!!!!!

I was sweating this one. The crank angle sensor on my other car (Talon TSi which I just did a T belt on) would take forever to get to, they'd have to remove ACC belt(s), remove a motor mount, raise the motor up, remove front engine covers. I was worried they'd have to tear into the motor so much that I was thinking about not doing it. After seeing the procedure it looks fairly easy. I'm waiting till June or so to get it done, I'll let the mechanics learn it on everyone elses car

The crank angle sensor on my talon is way in there, the wires for it run through an engine cover and the sensor is bolted inside the t-belt area. Looking at Nissan's design, I'd say it's much better. They were smart enough to make the item easy to get to for replacement.

Anyone else find it odd that only 34 muranos were made between 4-'02 to july '02?

Might take a while to get a letter. There are 175k + vehicles that are affected by this recall including Pathfinders, Muranos, Altimas, Sentras, etc. I wonder how much this is costing Nissan. A rough estimate would be $150/vehicle including the new part, dealer time, and administration of the whole deal which would work out to $25 million.

I just opened the pdf with the announcement, and there are 700,000 vehicles affected. I wonder how long it will take to make 700k of these new boards.

(so should we put the stock intake back on before we go in for this) - Yes, I know it sux but i've seen far too many times when a dealer will blame failures or problems on aftermarket equipment, though this is a huge recall, a dealer may still fuss bout that kinda stuff... save urself the hassle...

I'm glad the detailed PDF is usefull to some org members, in the future if I come across any other info, I'll be sure to pass it on...

Since the car is already in the shop getting the tranny replaced, I'm having the recall performed even before I get the notice. I checked the TSB and I do qualify for the recall.
