2003 Hood Rattle

When I go over 60 mph in my 03 se the hood starts to rattle. It doesnt feel right, I think its hurting the aerodynamics and I think one day it is gonna fly up at my windshield. Is the currently a tsb for this? anyone else have this problem?

i have the same problem on mine, when driving at freeway speeds, u can actually see the hood vibrating... i remember hearing something about a tsb for this, and i think all nissan does is adjust the hood or something like that... aside from the vibration, everytime i close my door u can hear this annoying rattle come from the hood, im just too lazy to take it in...

I had the dealer address this too, but it still is visibily bouncing. All they did was put a rubber seal near the front (above the headlight) to prevent the flow of air under the hood. There's a thread floating around on this forum where a couple of people used some liquid bonding agent and bonded the hood to the hood frame better. I'll try that next because this flapping hood is annoying. The dealer is supposed to do this, according to the TSB, but I think the dealer I went to just tried to get away with the most minimal effort.

I fixed mine at the Conn. meet.
All you have to do is turn those Rubber Hood Stoppers a bit higher and you can go 140 MPH without Vibration!

Take my word...there is only one fix to this. I have an '01 GLE and have had the problem since day one. My dealer tried all (3) of the TSB fixes and it still vibrates. I was told by a Nissan tech that also does body work, the hook latch mechanism will have to be lowered slightly to pull the hood down tight to the hood (rubber) stops. This is not adjustable as is, so the holes (the latch attaches to) will have to be elongated so the latch will adjust down. If you pursue this, I would strongly recommend getting someone well qualified to do this.

Nope, that certainly didn't work for me. I adjusted my stoppers as far out as they could go and the hood still rattled. Not only that, but the hood sat higher than the side fenders so it just looked stupid.

I've had the hood rattle problem with my 2k3 since day 1. I've been hesitant to take it in though because the TSB only states 2k2 so I figure the dealer will probably use that as a cop out.

Adjust your hood stops. 2 black stops that screw up or down. I had to raise mine about 3 turns and it stops your hood from bouncing. Easy fix. Mine shook at 40 MPH but no shaking now.

Another fix is to readjust the hood lock. You can pull it down in order to hold the hood closer to the car. My hood vibrated after I got it back from the repair shop, as it was replaced, and they were able to fix it by adjusting the lock. It actually looks better aligned too. The worst the dealer can say is that they were unable to replicate, I say bring it in.

Well my maxima rattled over bumps. Found out it was the hood. The fixed at gone!
BTW if I put weight on it, it was loose like there was a gap. But now fixed.
