PCV Valve Replacement, tips?

Replaced mine at 66K because I broke it doing something else. I would have left it in there until at least 100K if it hadn't broken. There has been absolutely no difference since the replacement went in.
I have 73k on my '03. I just had my friend who has been a mechanic at nissan and infiniti dealerships for about 15 years do some work on my car. He said that the maxima engines run so clean that he just about never replaces any PCV valves. If my car had 150k, he said he might do it, but definately not at 73k.

. . . .
BTW, my last 5th gen was burning oil and after i replaced the PCV valve + all 6 coils, the engine runs like a champ since then w/o any oil consumption. Is that because of the PCV valve? Who knows

I know it is a very old post, but I have tried everything to get the pics working; unfortunatelly they do not work for me. I want/need to change the PCV valve on my 2000 and have no clue where is it at. Can someone please post a picture of a 2000 pcv valve. There is one pic that works but it is a 2003, and I know they are in a different location.
Thanks again.

Anyone expecting a performance gain is out of luck if they simply change the PCV. However, those with 5.5 gens and oil comsuption issues might want to consider changing their PCV. I have 133,500 on my car and changed mine out about 3 weeks ago. Since I got my oil changed 900 miles ago, the oil level hasn't moved. The old PCV looked like it was stuck open.
I had my 2001 Se at a local shop for my idle problems. They had it three weeks before they told me they couldn't fix it. They charged me $9 to put in a PCV, which was one of my wild guesses. I wasn't sure where it was, it didn't look like a conventional PCV to me. To the left of the throttle body and not really easy to get to.
I just replaced my PCV valve on my 00 Maxima with 120k miles. It looked like the original one, stuck open with a lot of garbage and gunk on it. After replacing, the idle was smoother, I dont think I'm going to get any MPG improvements, but it's replaced.
It took a while to figure out where the valve was since it's in different places on a 00 and the 03. The 00 had it to the left of the throttle body on the intake, not on the valve covers like the others. It's in almost a 45 degree angle. I undid the hoses from the top and removed it from the holders, and used the hose to wiggle the PCV valve out of the hole. Then I sprayed some lube (WD40) on the ends so it would slide back in the whole easier. I used a long flat head screwdriver to push it back in since I could not get my hand in there. Then I reconnected the hose to the other end and to it's holders, and took a quick test spin. The idle (compared to what it was) is noticibably smoother. Total time to replace the PCV valve was about 5 minutes (of course after locating the valve).

FML i had to take out the air box and let the rest of the intake system hang around in the bay just to get that clip off to pull the tube and PCV. worse part about it was it needed a serious angioplasty! it was like the car has been eating unleaded cheeseburgers!I tried to scrape out as much as i could with q tips and a shish kabob skewer but in the interest of time i had to put her back together again.....im planning on seafoaming her, and ripping out the hoses for a good blow job (air compressor
) in the near future...
Trying to get to PCV valve ( & probably check VIAS) - could anybody explain
what to unscrew to move the blue part ?
I found a write-up how to remove TB completely, but can I somehow just loosen it so I'll be able to get access to PCV/VIAS screws?
