Had Crank sensor replaced. (long)

Well I had an appoitment to have my car serviced yesterday at Woodbury nissan in New Jersey. They were performing the headlight recall as well as checking the Bose problem i have be having with the car. When i brought the car in the service manager pulled the info on the car and also informed me that my car needed the cranck angle sensor replaced. Well the ordered me a new/rebuilt radio the did the headlight recall as well as the sensor. I guess the tech forgot to put all his stuff away when he was done with the car. When i started driving home i got about 3 blocks from the dealership when i heard a noise in the back of the car. I thought i came from the trunk but sounded too loud. Not thinking anything of it i put the car in the garage. When i went out to the gargage this morning i saw some sort of purple thing sticking up at the base of the rear window and somewhat under the lip of the trunk. It was a moudle for the consult II in its case (he must have left it on the roof of the car). It was about the same size as a modem for a laptop. I called the dealership and spoke to the service manager. I told him what had happened, he said that if the tech lost the module it would come out of his pay. He said it was worth between 400 and 500 dollars. He asked if he could come by my house to pick it up, I told him sure. He told me that he owed me one and if i wanted he would give me free oil changes for as long as i owened the car. I know some people have had problems with Nissan dealers, but I have owned 3 maximas and I do all my own work on my cars (except warrenty stuff). My dealer has never given me any problem with any warrenty work I have had to have done on any of our maximas. This guy was pretty happy to get the module back and im sure the tech was even happier.

I am sure that the tech noticed that it was missing when he had to return the module. They belong to the dealership not the tech (it would have come out of his pay). I am sure he would have had to sign it out. I had no use for it since it was not the entire consult II only one of the modules. Besides these guys have always treated me very well when i took my car in for service. I'm sure the treatment will continue and be even better in the future. I am sure if you had to pay for the loss of the module if you left on someones car you would not like it if the person that found it found the way to ebay.
