I have 5% all around includingabout 10 inches of my front windshield. no problems yet, i live in FL. Its been on the car since new. When I get pulled over, I'll accept responsibility for what I did.

I was pulled over for a speeding "warning" the other day and I thought to myself he would hit me
for tint fine /clear markers at least- but no ticket
he did fine me for my radar detector "obstruction of view"- go figure by two
State troopers and a local cop

20% all the way around. This is illigal in Maryland, 35 is the limit. I got 1 warning but went to a gas station and bribed the guy to sign off on my repair order for $20. He did it. Police say to have it inspected at the station or Motor Vehicle Admin, this is BS though..

I just got 35% all around. At first I wanted to go with something close to 50% as 70% is the state limit in CA, but after talking to the installer I changed my mind. He said that few people in his shop have 35% all around and did not get any tickes (this is in SD area.)
Also you might want to visit www.tintdude.com to check their forum.

70% is the limit in Cali? goodlord that sucks!
I've got 35% (legal limit here in KS) and no tickets, because its still legal.
I wanted to go 20% but the guy wouldn't do it! So I bought the 35% anyways and I'm not satisfied... shoulda went somewhere else. I think this summer I'm going to take it off and get it retinted....

20% Gray all around. Kansas City. 0 tickets in 2 months.
Don't rice out your ride and the cops likely won't notice. One other tip: roll down your windows as soon as you get pulled over and keep your hands in plain view. The dark tint is merely a safety issue - if you roll down your windows and are polite, the 5-0 likely won't give you a hard time.

Ditto here...no tint. Might do like 50 or 70% eventually, but I have a buddy who's a cop that says he is more likely to pull over a car that's tinted than one that's not (assuming all else about the cars is the same) because if you have an aftermarket tint, it gives the impression that you are trying to hide something....As to the argument about keeping the car cooler in summer...comeon, most of you do not have tint for that reason, you have it primarily to make the car look good. Just my 2c....Limit here in va is 35 rear 50 front...

Never really understood the point of those tint laws. Think about it, the first thing you do when you're pulled over is roll down the window anyways. And in most states they still allow all those SUVs and minivans with factory 5% tint in the back. Personally, I don't like darker than 20%.
Really does block the heat though, and helps tremendously with glare and headlights. Pretty much depends on where you live as to whether you'll get pulled over. In AZ I had friends w/ 5% all the way around and top and bottom strips on the front windshield with no trouble whatsoever. Even grammas have 5% out there. In TX they were *****, at least at the tint shops, wouldn't dare tint your car darker than some goofy specified limit. Here in MO, you can legally go 5% in the back and back sides, 35% on the side fronts.

I bought my super black '03 with 35% on all doors and rear window and nothing on windshield. I then put 5% on top of 35% on all doors and rear window and then put 35% over entire windshield. The law here in vegas is nothing darker than 35% on front doors and glare strip only like 6 inches or so from top of windshield. I got a ticket for having the windsheild tinted, he didn't notice the front doors though. Night driving and reversing can be a pain to the inexperienced dark tint driver, but learnable. I have to roll down my windows to see my mirrors to reverse at night, but trafiic driving is fine because you can always see headlights in the mirror just fine and 99.9% of city streets are well lit. Just check those blind spots religiously. The auto-dimming mirror never really dims because the tint is doing it already. I actually am a huge fan of the no-tint look, no really , but not on black cars. I think the darker the better on black vehicles; It really brought out the chrome window trim and chrome handles. Also, trust me, if I lived somewhere like Chicago .... or Cali even where the temp is 85 degrees or less, I would scrape the tint, but It sure comes in handy when it gets to 120 degrees .

CA law is stupid, 70% looks like no difference. Since they just give fix-it's, any place will do as dark as you wish. I did 13% all around, been pulled over several times, still no comments on the tint. just roll down the windows when you get pulled over or if you see a po..
