please help! paint scratch

i removed my se badge on my 03 where the trunk is. afterwards there was sticky crap on the paint. i showed it to this guy (seemed like he knew what he was doing). he puts compound on top of it and starts rubbing it.
i looked at it and there was faded swirl marks on it. i asked him if its going to be ok, and tells me that it should come off after few car washes. but f#@k no! that **** is now permanent! now i got to find a way to cover it up some how. any suggestions would be appreciated..

You might want to post this in the detailing forum, but 3m makes a good scratch/swirl remover that can work pretty well.

I've had the exact same thing happen to my old '99 max. This person I knew saw my max with a tiny scratch on the trunk and took it upon themself without my permission to buff it out. He ended up using too harsh of a compound and it took off the clearcoat and some of the paint. I was ****ed!!

If the swirl mark is really bad and large, I'd just cover it up with the SE emblem again. If its small, then you can try a non abrasive scratch/swirl remover.

i've seen some compounds eat cleaar coat and damage the paint... be careful, and if you havn't already tried, give it a nice coat of polish, and then some wax... see if that gives you any results...
