clutch flutter

I have 02 max 6-sp. 20k miles. I have a strange fluttering or shutter that occurs periodically when I am engaging the clutch. It usually happens during moderate to strong acceleration. The flutter happens just near full engagement of the clutch. It happens when engaging 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd. There is no squeeling, although it does squeek from the right front during strong fluttering. Could it be a clutch problem, or perhaps bushings or engine mounts?

I am not breaking traction so it's not wheel hop. Although, I do experience much more wheel hop now than before.

Any ideas? This problem is beginning to really bother me and it's hard to reproduce, especially when I want to show the problem to the Nissan service people.

Either a worn throwout bearing or bent fork that holds it. Do you feel the vibration in the clutch pedal? If so then this is almost definately the case.

Nope. I don't feel any vibration of flutter in the clutch pedal at all.

I have noticed that the clutch flutter problem is almost non-existant when the car is cold.

I've read that engine mount problems may result in excessive wheel hop and I seem to be having this problem too. Any chance of this clutch flutter being related to the engine mounts? I've check the two engine mounts visible when the hood is open (they look fine), but I haven't crawled underneat to check the bottom mount.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks again.

I notice mine makes a weird noise when I disengage the clutch at high RPMs... e.g. doing full-throttle acceleration, winding each gear out
It's not like a shudder... almost seems as if the flywheel was out of balance(?)
Never hear it at low RPMs...
