O2 Sensor Location question

While cruising at 75 I got a CEL, pulled a code:

2/2 Bank 2 Sensor 2 O2 Sensor Slow Response

Figured it was a fluke (sudden cold weather), cleared codes out.

Drove around for another 1000 miles without the **** light ever coming on again.

So yesterday I am going down the highway, there's no traffic, I'm doing about 75, hit cruise...2 minutes later, boom, CEL. Car does not run any different. Light only comes on when cruise is set @ near 75-80mph.

Gives me 2 options. Drive around with it and clear codes when I have to get state inspection, or actually fix it...but going around with a CEL on is definitely not a "badge of coolness", even with the drop resistor mod...so I guess I gotta fix it.

Which O2 Sensor is the 2/2 so I can go ahead amd replace it? Im guessing its downstream (the one closest to the cats) but would that be left or right side?

Also, why on earth won't Nissan warranty an O2 sensor under either fed emissions OR powertrain? The part's only $91 (my cost) but still...

Yeah I feel your pain.

Yeah, there is TSB out. Check that thread (sorry don't how to link it) Also check out the thread, 'Rear 02 sensor, Brake Judder and MIL light'.

You have to replace both REAR O2's, Red (Bank 2) and White (Bank 1) harnesses. You can see the harnness when you open the hood. Check out the diagram in the TSB. Let me know if you can get that Red (bank 2) one out without taking out the pre cat itself. I sure couldn't do it today.

The dealer replaced just the Bank 1 sensor when I took it in (after the MIL came on), they are supposed to replace both according to the TSB (for 2002-03 Max's only). Since they didn't I tried to avoid more hassle by doing it myself, but that failed too. Back to the dealer for me. What a FUN Christmas this has been. Two weeks of O2 sensoring.....

Sorry to hear you weren't successful. Were you trying to use an O2 socket? Autozone and Pepboys also sell offset O2 sockets (for hard to reach sensors) for around $10. Don't know if that would have helped or not though...

I need to work out.

I guess you have to be Arnold or something to get it off...

Its more the angle I think. Yeah I bought one of those offset deals. Thing is, all I can get in there is screwdriver or small pry bar to turn it. It WONT move. Im afraid I will break something. I think the pre cat is meant to be taken out. Im not comfortable doing that....unless the dealer wants to charge $120 to do it. I dont think they will...They should have replaced it with the first labor charge...according to the TSB. Monday should be fun at the dealer. Anyone else successful in getting that rear bank 2 off?
