I was just wandering if anyone here is actually thinking of doing this to there car. I am thinking about it, but there is this little person in the back of my head telling me now to. If you guys don't mind, how about some input. Thanks!

Resale

I would recommend not doing it. Maximas, for some reason, do not hold their value as a Camry or an Accord and shaving the handles would majorly compromise the resale or your Max even more. Look at it this way....it would cost you money to have this mod done (probably a lot!!) and then it woud also cost you money when it is time to trade or sale your Max. Looks like a "lose-lose" mod to me.

PIC

Shaved door handles is when you make the outside of a car or truck look flush all the way down ( looks like you don't have door handles) and you have to use "popping like" solenoids to open your door remotely. I don't plan on selling my max either, but right now it is my main car. Also my friends got it done to his truck and he did all the work, he said that he will do mine for around $130 a door.

what happens...

when the remote thing fails, or there is something wrong with the solenoids, then how do the doors open?

many people that have this feature also install remote window roll down so u can stick your hand in and manually open it, there's usually a fail safe switch hidden, but if the solenoids are all busted then it just really sux to be u cuz tha tmeans a window is going to be busted.. u can prull go in from the trunk but then again if u have subs mounted like mine you're gonna be screwed. i've thot about this alot and still have it on my to do list.. i'll think of a "mechanical" way to make a fail safe, something non eletrical would be best.

Failsafe...

If the remote doesn't work, what you do is when you install all of the parts for this mod, you also install a positive and a negative terminal on the underside of the car. Then you simply connect a set of jumper cables to these terminals and presto the doors will open. If all of the different ways to get in your car fail oh well time to eat about $200 or so for a new piece of glass. I am probably going to do it sometime around the beginning of the summer, so I will keep everyone that is interested posted.
