***Shifting on 01 SE???????????????

I noticed today when my car is on park and I press the break pedal there is clicking sound that comes from undereath the shifter cup holder area like a relay when it clicks?? Is this normal or have any of you had this problem????

(couldn't resist since your topic title is inaccurate)

this is the same mechanism that prevents you from shifting unless you press the brake pedal. the click is it engaging/disengaging. on many cars you can hear it.

it's not a problem
it is normal
it won't harm anything
your car won't explode
not sure if its electrical or mechanical. haven't taken that part out of the car yet.

That would be the shift lock solenoid. I don't ever remember hearing mine. I'll have to listen for it now.
