LSDs available on manuals & autos?

Is the Limited Slip Differential available with automatics, manuals, or both? How can you tell if your car has one or not?

with the 2k2-2k3 maximas, only the 6spds have the lsd as an option.

with the 2k1 anniversary edition maxima, all 5spds and auto are equipped with the lsd option. I also believe all canadian maximas are equipped with lsd also.

One of the easiest ways to tell if you have one is to stomp on the gas from a stop and see how many black strips you leave on the pavement.

2 = LSD
1 = No LSD

not necessarily true.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ht=engine+hlsd
read that... people have tried and it's sometimes true, sometimes not.

url
or try the definitive way and read the engine code.

Under the hood on the right side of the engine, stamped in metal there's a number. I think it's the 6th or 7th character... if it's an "H" then it's HLSD, if it's... I forgot, an "A" maybe... then it's not.

untrue... just watched a 4th gen auto do a burnout at the last meet... leaving two black stripes on the pavement

easiest way to check is to put your car on a lift and spin one of the front wheels... if you have lsd, the other wheel on the other side will soon start to spin also.

again, NO, the easist way to check and KNOW is to look under the hood on the right side of the engine, stamped in metal there's a number. I think it's the 6th or 7th character... if it's an "H" then it's HLSD, if it's... I forgot, an "A" maybe... then it's not.

that's why I said it's the easist way, he has an '02. There is also a code for your LSD... not sure what it is and I don't want to guess (but there's an obvious one )
