Y Pipe Install?

Hello all..this is my first post so bare with me...I have a 00 SE I have upgraded with an Injen COI and now I am thinking about adding a Warpspeed Y pipe and cat converter. I would like to know any feedback on this installation re: performance improvements etc., plus recommendations if there are any. I do not want a "loud" car so no ricer stuff for me. I have enjoyed reading the info out there from you all, hopefully I can add something to the group in the future. Thanks Tigger

I have a 2000 SE 5 speed (Cali-spec) and installed a Stillen Y-Pipe; the rest of the exhaust is stock. Fit was perfect and the only trick was to losen the bolts on the top of the front pre-cat to fit the pipe in place. The rear pre-cat is not used as it is on the old y-pipe.
The sound increase is a slightly deeper tone at idle and about 10-15 % more cabin noise while driving around town, but not a problem, not ricy. At 70mph the road and wind noise are louder than any exhaust noise increase. As for a performance increase, I noticed that from 4k-6k the engine pulls a little better than the stock y-pipe as the stock y-pipe seemed to choke the engine above 4k and limit performance. The performance increase was slight, but if you have a fed spec you might see a higher performance gain as the second precat is removed.

I'm not sure about the 00-01's but there are fitment issues with the 02-03 Warpspeed pipes. I would recommend looking at the other manufactures.

doesn't the ypipe improve performance pretty dramatically for the 3.0s?

Maybe since he bought the stillen one? The cattman gives a nice gain 10-15hp with an intake. If everything else is stock Brian Catts said 9-12hp.

I really noticed the difference, it seemed to make the car respond a little quicker and gives a nice "throaty" sound form the engine on acceleration. Not real loud like my son's Accura TL, just nice.

Count your O2 sensors (or O2 plugs on the front of the block) 4=cali

or look for NLEV on the front of the car = cali

i've got one, and i love it. response is quicker and the car pulls harder, not to mention the sweet song it sings. pick one up.
