Has anyone else had this? We own a '03 GLE and got it new last January. Whenever it is cold outside and the car is cold, any bump in the road causes the windshield to make a popping or cracking sounds. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem.

sounds like my whole car pops and cracks for the first minute or so when its this cold out!

 

this happened to me this week, until I realized it was the ice layer on my trunk that was actually creaking.

after knocking it off.....no more noise....


Just been warming the car up for about 10 min prior to driving....its 1 degree out here!!!!

This is the 2nd winter I've had my Max and mine does the same thing, just ice on outside I guess , but never noticed it on any other car I've owned

 

My wife's car is garaged so there is no ice, or even frost, on the car when this happens.
It just surprised me because it didn't do it this same time last year.

 

my windshield cracks and pops a lot, only started happening when it got cold, really only happens on the highway too, sounds like someone's throwing little pellets at it, real annoying and sometimes loud but, ohwell, windshield's still there

 

My 2001 Does it...it comes from the passenger front corner ( where the airbag is )..I believe there is a TSB out for that

 

snap...crackle...pop.. I need some cocoa krispies...

 

The cold brings out lots of squeaks and rattles even on virtually new cars, I know my 350 and Max had some unfamiliar squeaks when it was in the teens and 20's last week out.
