'02 Clutch Question

I've been thinking about trading my '02 wife-O-matic for a manual so I just test drove an '02 manual w/ 14K miles on it at a dealer.

I was very shocked at how long the travel was on the clutch. Whoa.

This particular car did not have HLSD.

So my question is whether or not the length of travel is adjustable. If not, I'm gonna have a huge left leg...

The overall pedal height is adjustable by a dealer, but the engaugement point on the clutch itself never changes.

hahahahahahaha....oh sorry, still laughing at the super-rice max with lamborghini doors.

but seriously.....there have been some super-sized threads on this subject, and the consensus seemed to be that there is a LITTLE bit of adjustability, but you probably shouldn't mess with it (result can be burned out clutches/flywheels, etc...)

My dealer said they would not adjust it (and I even told them I'd pay, and they still said no)....said that's "just the way it is" (and the guy I talked to I have worked with before, he is a straight-shooter).....

It really annoyed me when I first got the max, but I am completely used to it now and don't even notice...and damn my left leg is so huge!

I HAD to adjust mine. It's been almost 5k and no troubles so far.
The adjustment itself is not difficult. You just have to move it small amounts at a time and try it out. A couple of org members went and made huge adjustments without testing it and killed their clutch.

Note: The engagment point in the clutch travel DOES change. The clutch can be made to pick up much closer to the floor. The closer to the floor the clutch engages, the shorter the overall movement will be.
