I have a 2001 SE Manual and the markings on the stick are disappearing. There is only 28000 mi. on it. Anybody else come across this problem?

Thanks, MCE

2000 Sunlit Sand SE 5-Speed with 67,540 miles. My numbers/letter are completely worn off and the **** is looking terrible. I've read numerous posts-some say it screws off with a pipe wrench/vice grips and others say you have to cut it off?

Anyone with the correct/true answer?
