FC Exhaust soundclip

I don't know if someone posted this in another thread or if someone else hosted this clip, but anyway, it was e-mailed to me by Eleebob7 to host it. It's the Frankencar catback on a 2k2. Quality is fair, but it's better than nothing.

Any opinions on sound? It's hard to tell if the exhaust if actually making anymore noise than stock so I wanted to know what you guys thought. I don't really have any reference point b/c I've never had anyone drive my car so I don't know how the stock sound is from the outside of the car. Feel free to post -- I might be getting it this week, but wanted some more opinions from any of you w/more experience in this arena.

Sounds almost like stock muffler, maybe there's more "high tone" at higher RPM.

Am so confused, $400 is pretty cheap for a quality looking exhaust, but I would def. want a better sound than stock w/o drone from being an auto.

Any other opinions? Need to make a decision by this Wed. :|

I was really hoping for a low growl not a puff of air. I hate drowning but i want the world to feel my max. I just want my car to lope.

It definitely does not sounds stock at full-throttle, especially if you have an aftermarket intake. FYI: I have not dyno my car w/the catback system. Just think, the $440 (shipped) you spent (this included the gaskets which Cattman charges extra) will last the life of the catback exhaust components. My car was less than 2 years old when I had it installed and the stock muffler and especially the b-pipe section have already shown signs of severe rusting. These parts are not cheap to replace.

Frankencar's guys need to provide dyno soon! I can't figure out what kind of business they are running these days?

Catbacks dont gain too much power, but thats not a bad sounding exhaust. I dont like drone, the loudest (if you could call it loud) Ive ever heard w/o any drone on a max that had a y-pipe on was the cattman cat-back. This seems to be a bit quieter, thats plus in my book.

well the great thing is that it doesnt sound (metallic, raspy, bee like, trashy,) the max is a fine looking car. im looking for a sporty sound as well.

i think you can smile that it doesnt sound like a truck. not sure what you have or even if the 5th gen guys get the y pipe (should change sound).

im thinking toss on an injen intake or the awesome frankencar midpipe and let someone record you flying by at WOT. exhaust sounds one way at driving speeds and lots different with the the pedal on the floor. again with a intake, this might be perfect. letting that beautiful engine sing right on top of the exhaust sound

that might be the thing to do !

What other intake/exhaust mods does eleebob7 have on his car?

I LIKE that this exhaust is quieter which is why I've always intended on keeping my stock muffler.

IF the Frankencar catback shows gains by independent dynos, than I might actually get it afterall...

I think that sounds great. If only there's a deeper growl from the muffler though. Just a tad =). Anyone know places in Atlanta that I can get it installed?

I ended up just buying it, picked it up to save shipping $$ (will be using that $$ for installation). I should have it installed by the end of Jan so look out for better quality soundclips/vids of how it sounds from the outside as well as from the cabin.

I think it has an awesome sporty sound.

I don't like anything like the greddy sounding like rice.

This is perfect with an intake or even alone!

I e-mailed them a week or so before I went up there. As we all know, Steve has day job so it's not like he'll be at the warehouse place during the day (or even night unless you're gonna pick it up). Just e-mail Steve and leave a msg on his cell phone. He got back to my e-mails w/in a day or two..the place is in like the middle of nowhere though..~1.5 hrs from Boston

Just gotta be patient with him. You'll get it in time.

Just to let you know though, since I installed, it's gotten louder. I took that clip about a day after I installed.

FYI: I had my Cattman's y-pipe & Warpspeed's metallic catalytic converter installed earlier today. I wrapped the y-pipe & the b-pipe w/the header's wrap to retain the exhaust heat within the pipings for faster exhaust exit and also to reduce the noise level. My engine sounds very deep and throaty at lower rmps...and roar w/authority under WOT more like a V8 engine now. On highway, I hardly had to step on the gas 'cause of the free-flowing exhaust. The car idle and cruise on the highway "stock" quietly. So far, I am very satisfied w/the setup.
