1572 and 1102 codes!!! WTF

auto zone pulled these codes from my max...the 1572 is a brake pedal switch malfunction and the other is maf sensor in range but lower than expected...WTF does that mean? full replacement or just a reset will fix my prob with the 2400 rpm limit and crappy running? i want the performance again!

MAF sensor in rage but lower than expected:

this is how your MAF works. it reads your intake air and converts that reading to a voltage reading. At WOT, you should read about 3.7v IIRC, on the MAF voltage return wire. I assume that you did couple WOT run and your MAF was reading a lot lower or it was just low at all range. Low MAF reading will lower your fuel injector duty cycles. That means less fuel is pumping into your engine.

few causes that I can think of (I dont have the service manual with me):
1.intake air leak after MAF
2.dirty air filter
3.faulty/dirty MAF sensor

not sure about the brake pedal switch

thanks...just had oil changed at valvoline by a friend and they pulled the airfilter which was dirty, and may have resulted in knocking debris loose and fouling the maf...thanks for your help. that gives me some indication of the issue, but tomorrow they are replacing the maf, so what ever the case, new maf for me. thank you very much for your expertise. that is why i love the org!

no problem...ask them if you get to keep the old MAF...if it is not broken, it's always good to have a backup.

i will, but will they do that if it is replaced under warranty? even if it is "shot" they are replacing the whole thing...from the sound of it i just need the sensor and sleeve($108 daveb), not the whole housing ($500), so i could just keep it and spend the $108 and have a working spare right?

yup~ and I think they are just replacing the sensor for warranty repair. so keep your current working or semi-working one in the car. just in case that one day it just decides to give while you are on the road. you can still fix it and save some money on towing.

they wont let me keep it...they said they have to send it back to nissan because it is a warranty repair and to get paid for it they have to send the defective parts back. i asked them to hold it so i could at least see what part they replaced because the part number they ordered and the part that needs to be replaced are two different #s. the one they ordered is $488, and the one they have in stock is $110(same one daveb sells for $108). i am betting they are replacing the whole deal, and not just the sensor, but that doesn't make $ sense for nissan...replace a less expensive part with a more expensive part that has more to it than what is needed for the tsb repair. who said nissan ever made sense with what they do? i will update everyone once i pick up the car this afternoon.
