intermittent ses

my ses light has been going on/off intermittently for about a month now. first time it just turned on, on my way to work. it stayed on for about two weeks, then abruptly when off (while driving again). stayed off for about two weeks and came back on. went out again after a week and back on again after two-three days. it's now remaining lit (for about a week now).

no loss in power at any rpm. gas mileage remains about the same (gas cap is always on tight). use bp/amoco 93 octane. any thoughts/help as to what might be the culprit? maf? coils?

thanks.

(2000SE 5SPD, ~32K miles)

99%, o2 sensor, one of them. I had 3 go on my 01. The light can go on and off, but even with it off, its still broken. Even with a blown sensor, the car can run fine, but in the long run, you will notices something, like dirty plugs.

A hundred bucks apeice for (god forbid) 4 O2 sensors is not really that cheap. One is under a hundred and the rest are over a hundred. There are no aftermarket replacements for these. There is a TSB out for the computer CAUSING O2 sensors to fail and I actually had mine (just one thankfully) replaced under my extended warranty. They also do a reprogram of your computer to hopefully stop this from happening.
