I think I modded too fast...

I've had my car since late April of 2003. I have done some pretty good modding since then, and I got to thinking about what I want to do next; stuff that I really want to do, not something I can do just to have that particular mod. And guess what? I can't think of anything that I really want; nothing as bad as the drop I wanted, the system I wanted, the exhaust sound that I wanted. The only thing I am now thinking of upgrading are the stock speakers, which, I think, are starting to crackle. And that wasn't even a thought a month ago. Just a rant, I guess.. anyone mod too fast only to find out that they're all out of steam in less than a year?

I wanted an RSB for a while, but then I lowered my car and stopped wanting one, because I don't think it will improve the handling significantly enough. I got an FSTB mostly for looks, if you are wondering, but since it serves some little purpose it can be considered a useful mod.

From what i understand, the RSB will still create a dramatic diff even after you're lowered. I'm not sure though, mine has been sitting on my floor for a while since I dropped my ride.

Hey Lith, I wouldn't complain - sounds like you've got what many of us are lacking: contentment!

housecor, yeah, but the problem is that I am now pretty much addicted to modding. Being addicted to something (or at least seeing it as your new hobby), with no "drugs on the market" that you want is a problem

Yeah, I hear ya there - I am spending waaaay too much time on the org here lately. Just bought my '03 in October and I've already dropped well over $500 on basic mods. Got my eyes on struts, springs, DDE's, FSTB, RSB...yada yada.

I'll openly admit my current addiction. I find polishing my car only aggrevates the condition...

Stuff I want/need, but can't afford does not fall into the "I think I modded too fast category." I want rims. Can I afford them? No. Same goes for a turbo, NX kit with bulletproofed tranny, a urethane kit that looks sick, etc.

Yes the neverending list. When I first bought my car I made a list finished most of it except bodykit and rear sway bar. Now this is my new list.

1. Vb mod with tranny cooler
2. Stillen bodykit w/ front fascia
3. C2 Gauges for gauge pod
4. Carbon fiber hood
5. Repaint Car
6. JIC FLT-A1 coilovers
7. TechnoSquare ECU
8. Cattman headers

Just try and enjoy it for a while the way it is. Way too many guys in here are simply addicted to the modding and not the pure enjoyment of driving. Take the car to the 1/4 mile track or autocross and put it to use and become a better driver.

I have found that the more i mod the more i want to keep my car so it is almost worth it to go and by so clears or a FSTB or a RSB. As long as you not really hurting yourself financially then its cool but if you are being irresponsible then you have bigger fish to deal with than an urge to mod.

I never thought of modding my max either, until I found this site. I've gone through it pretty fast too. It looks like I've only got a few things left and those are the most expensive. I'm gonna stay N/A so at least I don't have to save for a TC or SC kit.
next up:
TS ECU (if it proves its not losing power)
Y-pipe/B-pipe
rims (Saving up for Nismo LM GT4's )
maybe a VB-mod (I've had a tranny cooler in my garage for around 10 months now. Too damn lazy.)

Dave
agreed.

oh, within 24hrs of owning my current car, it was lowered, had a set of wheels, and a RSB.

my motto is "....slowly but surely....."
besides it pays off to see problems coming across
new mods- even so too much money has gone my Max's way in one year....

i think it all boils down to what you wanna do with your car. i've had my car since august 02, and my car is almost complete. only thing left is window tint, ss-braided brake lines, and ts ecu (come warm season). after that, it's driving off into the sunset... about the only thing i regret is not getting the chance to dyno after each power mod. essentially, i have no idea how much hp/tq i'm making.

I cant see when it's going to stop, so much can be done and I'm glad cuz I plan on staying alive for a longtime, so it will help forgetting that I'm gettin older.

This morning was so cold I though the max would not start I mean -41 celcius, guess what it started, I had to crank the starter a bit but it didn't die.

Cheers

That costed A LOT more then I thought it would. I ended up spenging double of what I was planning on spending. Ive had my ride since sep, 01 and ive been modding at a steady pace, not too fast nor slow.

Still consumes $ like crazy.

I dont even have 19's yet & ive spent too damn much. The only "small" bolt on I for some reason still havnt gotten is the RSB

Lets see, Carbon Fiber Hood, Y pipe, cross drilled rotors, RIMS, body kit, strobe lights, LED mirrors, TV's, and a whole lot of other stuff, you've just BEGUN modding based on your cardomain site.

my case
start from an RSB
-> intake -> FSTB -> strust/spring -> vb and tranny cooler -> ypipe -> SC -> EGT/Boost gauge -> Fuel pressure gauge -> oil cooler -> cat-back

yup, this is a never ending game and those toys are just for performance only (well, except the FSTB). I still have show toys and audio to go. But I just decided to call it off and sell them for something else.

it's addictive. once you started, it will never end.
