Not sure if they are compatible Max vs. I35, however in theory you'd get BETTER mpg since TS is leaning out the super rich A/F ratio at WOT.

BTW, the ECU won't affect mpg during "normal" closed-loop driving.

For the auto's, it's around 190-195 HP. For the manuals, it's around 202-207 HP.

A copy of the manual dyno can be found on my homepage in the dyno section.

Or better...get it on DISK.

Great numbers on that is there any one else have a good dyno with the ecu want to compare a/f on them see if it is consistant with that headers vs no headers

Even though the numbers are STD..we went to the same dyno which can give us a good comparison to each other of the power we are making. Keep in mind you are a 6 spd though.

noticed your torque line maxes @3200 rpm then takes a dip.....till 3800rpm....could it be the headers?

If I remember correctly he did a best of 224 with just the headers. He then added the ECU and dyno'd at 218 and was running extremely rich. TS reflashed the ECU and the results are the 231 hp runs in this thread.

Erik correct me if I'm wrong please.

I'm guessing the ECU and headers will void the factory warranty, right? BTW sorry if this has already been discussed...

how it voids the warranty? TS says "no error codes" so the dealer they wont know that you have a ECU...

UMM. . You know these are wheel dynos, Right?

Nissan and everyother car company tells you the HP at the crank.

have to ask TS that one. They have the program to advance or retard the timing throughout the curve. Now that I'm back to all motor I plan to go aggressive as I can on the timing.

"He said that the I will definitely gain more torque and a few ponies if I put my main cat back on"

If it were me I 'd look for a new tuner, that is ridiculous advice. Reinstall something that doesn't flow as well as what you have? An engine is basically an air pump so the more air you pass the more power you make. Also, you need to look at timing events of cam to see what the motor is doing. Is your torque down from stock? I would look to installing a different cam, yes it's expensive but if picked right the gains you'll see will put a smile on your face.

I'm new to Maxima stuff and having trouble finding any kind of usable info on these cars but I will say from past experiences that your car will benefit greatly from a cam change particularly one that favors intake over exhaust. Your cam is blowing most of air out of chamber before the burn explaining why torque is down (if down at all) by letting more air in you'll see more of a torque gain along with HP gains.

Your a/f is way off the dip is from the drastic drop in a/f, shoot for 12.8-13.2 steadily across the board. You're losing power with a a/f of 11:1, way too rich! That's better suited to a SC application.

I wouldn't totally rule out that putting the main cat back on in place of straight pipe will add power. Their has been enough anecdotal evidence that makes me consider it a possibility. Also if you read the attached thread you'll see where Warpspeed performance lost power replacing the main cats with straight pipes on the Nissan 5.6L engine. They also claim to know of 3 fourth gens that ran a slower 1/4 mile after replacing the stock cat with straight pipes.

I got 272 at the crank.

Did I do my math wrong, or was the 300 just a best guess? I thought you divided the whp by .85 (to get back the ~15% loss).

255 is at the crank while his gains are wheel horsepower...big difference

He's an auto so drivetrain loss is about 20%.

Because the cam was designed for the restrictive exhaust..bask pressure is BAD period otherwise aftermarket parts would be smaller not larger. You need to retune the car for these parts or better yet get a cam that will benefit from new parts. It was quicker because it was making more torque down low and we all know torque is what moves the car. My past project was a Mustang and I had the ability to go into computer program and modify timing tables, fuel tables, MAF function, etc.. The last motor I ran in it was a 331ci stroker motor, I gained 30hp just through tuning.

Maxima heads have a hemi style chamber which are very efficient, very efficient heads like lots of timing down low but little in higher rpms, they also do not need lots of fuel. From the a/f graphs I've seen these TS reflashes are way too rich 3000rpm on particularly the one in this thread. He is leaving quite a bit of performance on the table.

Those are expensive! Course, its a major engine part. Any real benefits of these on a N/A engine? I plan on getting some headers and a new exhaust as well as a CAI this summer...and now a new ECU......but will this be worth the 1200 bucks?
