tell ebay!
Just went to Ebay and reported these auctions. Here is the URL: http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_i...t_listing.html
Here was my message:
Due to high theft rates in the northeast, Maxima HID kits/headlights should be added to the "Prohibited and Restricted Items" list. The above auctions (I provided in a separate list) are almost certainly for stolen merchandise. This article details the problem: http://www.identificationtechnologie.../NJ%20Star.pdf. Thanks.
I think it'd be great if other org members contact Ebay as well. Getting stolen merchandise pulled from ebay is another step in the right direction.

Yep, it definitely had to be stolen, look at the seller's feedback. He's new to ebay. I sent and email for question, that how does he know it's for the maxima and I want to see his response would be. I'll keep you posted.

Why don't some of us just place the winning bids on these items then stiff the dude. He will then have to list them again only to have someone make the high bid and stiff him again. I guess ebay will get ****ed but do you think these guys are going to report anyone for stiffing them?

I want to thank all of you owners for showing such interest and support in this crisis. I'm sure the majority of you (not in the Northeast) have had no issues with HID theft, and it makes me proud of you and this forum for supporting us NJ, NY owners who have to live with this plague every day.
Housecor, thanks for the link to that article. I never read it before, and it was very informative.
The irony is I work about 300 yards off of Eisenhower Parkway in Roseland and I've never had an issue there... They just wait til I come home to take the HIDs. BTW, for you guys in NNJ, that spot in Roseland is a veritable shopping mall for thieves... The office buildings are only 10 seconds from Rt. 280, and every slimeball from Newark, the Oranges and Irvington drive through there looking for a "bargain".... Maxima's are not exclusive, many cars have been stolen from there... STAY AWAY!!!
Keep up the good work... Together we will get through this!!!
If the thieves are resorting to taking the risk of publicly selling these on e-bay, it must be starting to get hard to re-sell them on the street. Keeping up the pressure and being persistant is the only way to put an end to it.
I just sent ebay emails also about those auctions. I'm going to send the sellers emails now. Its way out of control now. I was doing some research last night and Florida. specifically dade is getting hit rwith HID theft. The target is Porsche. According to the article they are real easy to steal also. They also mention that the maximas are starting to become a problem. Let me find the article and i'll post it.
Porsche HID Theft
Porsche HID Theft
The worst part about this whole issue is that the biggest market for these lights are the owners of 2000 and 2001 Maximas. It's sad but true, you could probably find a lot of these stolen lights just by looking at Maxima.org members. Go see for yourself--how many '00 and '01 guys have modified their cars by adding HID's? Quite a few.

I have a question... Doesn't ebay understand that the sale of aftermarket Xenon HID kits has been illegal since August of 2003? How could they allow the sale without the authorities stopping them?
Here's a link to a post found on HID Forum.com:

Can the NHTSA enforce the $5,000 per day fine on ebay since 8/15/03?

why doesn't someone in the area just call this guy and arrange to look at the HID's for sale "to make sure they are in working condition" or something....then a bunch of people go over there and ...um...you know what. Won't he be surprised when a bunch of maximas roll up at his house!
I notice in that article it says "''Mercedes has [the lights], but you can die of old age trying to take them out.''
If Mercedes has developed a good system to keep the lights from being stolen, why can't Nissan!?

By the way, evilroadsvicitm, your cardomain site says:
"no stupid bezels or gay dash kits..."
Although I have neither a "stupid bezel" or "gay dash kit", those are strong words coming from a guy with not-so-stylin GLE stock HUBCAPS

And where did you buy your HIDs, by the way? Ebay?

to off topic... you have a problem with my 'strong opinion' on dash kits and bezels?
hubcaps? read up on the thread a few weeks ago that says just when nissan came out with the new design for the gle wheels. that should clear it up.

There might not be much we can do about it, but at least we know that we're not alone in this situation and that other's know how we feel. I've had my lights stolen and unless you've been through it, you do not know the rage one goes through knowing that some punk a$$hole is walking around with the stuff you worked hard to earn. So unless you have some constructive input, STFU.

No you are not alone, nor will be the last one. Although i symphatize with anyone who has had something on their car messed with (whatever that is, and i have been there too) you have to understand that personal opinion is just that, and if you get on the case of everyone that does not chime in with something you like, then, you are just trolling around with no cause. You want constructive input? Move, use a garage or frankly, bolt your lights down with custom steel bolts and brackets to the frame. I don't see what constructive input you can actually expect since everything that could have been done concerning the ebay sales of "parts" has been exhausted. So unless you manage to file some sort of investigation with the proper authorities, you really are not contributing anything either. If you actually read my post, i suggested that a thread/forum/whatever be made for such discussions, like with the technosquare ECU, stillen headers, and other topics that have been of high interest. Now if you somehow magically skipped through that part, pity.
There are many valid headlight related posts around, but just posting the weekly "hey i found these on ebay for sale, think they are stolen *wink wink*" is getting old, to me anyway, and last i checked it is not against any rules, including the unwritten moral ones to express that.
There should be a sticky thread where people can go to get a list of all current suspected stolen Hid item listing numbers. I would be happy to check ebay every couple of days and list the items I find. Then people could copy the list and send it off with a letter to ebay. Each person who has concerns with hid theft could draft his or her own letter and just add the updated list of items. The addition of area newspaper clippings regarding hid theft as well letting ebay that aftermark hid systems are illegal for sale (made illegal August 2003 may prompt them to prohibit the sale of Hids on ebay if they get enough complaints. Well its just a thought.

I'm surprised HID theft hasn't become a sticky yet, that's a good idea! It should be limited to e-bay auctions so those of us that are willing to be advocates can watch for new ones and take appropriate action. It's such a big problem it deserves that kind of attention.

Thats pretty funny the dope should have never given out his cell phone number. I think i will call his cell a few times and if he doesn't have it on and I can leave a message I may leave him 20 messages or so. Maybe even spam his email addy.
