Optima Red top Installation trouble

Just bought new red top Optima, and ready for install. After I took out the OEM battery switch with the Red top, I found out that the positive(+) cable is too short. Has anyone faced this problem before? Please help

Search function is not working and I've looked through 35 pages and still can't find any info on this. all help are appreciated. Thanks

is it dual post? if so, it'll reach the side post easily
if it's single post, you'll have to stretch, BUT it'll fit. annoying, but it'll fit. it's one of those ya gotta fudge with. good luck.

I like those connectors, where did you get them?
OEM connectors are too short.

wcasskicker-
I just installed my red top on saturday. You're not alone - the positive cable is a bi@tch. Took a little wigglin and gigglin but it fits fine now. Are you sure you got the correct size? 75/35? I also put the red plastic thing that came with the battery on the bottom to help it fit snug. And make sure you tie that sucker down!

Hope this helps...

MaxMed-
You took off the red top cover? I took out the original black plastic cover and just secure the Optima with the battery tie down. It barely fits so I am look for new positive terminal to solve this problem.

I didn't order them. I just posted the link to Stinger's webpage because someone asked what type they were. I'm guessing they aren't cheap, especially with having a digital voltage output display built in.

When I bought the battery, there were two red, plastic attachments on top of the battery (not the actual "red top). These attachments are to be placed underneath the battery incase the battery is to short (which was my case) Is your battery too short? Too tall? The positive terminal wont reach? All I did was grab the positive cable and bend it a little. Then I kinda slid the positive battery terminal underneath the cable and it fit.

Maybe I'm just crazy. Good luck and do whatcha gotta do to make it fit.

I went with the smaller Group 35 size Red Top. It has plenty of CCA's and dual posts. The terminals are closer to the edge so I didn't need to wrestle with the + connector or get a different one. And its lighter than the Group 34.

OK-
Having looked at the pic, I think you need to put something underneath the battery to lift it up a bit. Like I said when I bought my red top, there was two rectangular red pieces of plastic that came with it. They are to be placed underneath the battery in situations like yours...

You'll also need to buy another battery tie down. the nissan one doesnt let you tighten the front bolt further than the height of the stock battery.
