You have to go to the dealership to get it programed.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure you can do it on your own. Can someone help me?

is it for 2k2

i just bought a key fob from marco and program it myself
all you have to do is get inside your car and lock all the doors and start to insert your key in the ignition and take it out for about 5x in less tha 10 seconds or until the park lights start to blink, this means the old combination from the keyfob is erase then pull out the key and press the unlock button and if this work you already program the new keyfob if this doesn't work start all over again.... the main thing is you have to be quick to put the key in and out of the ignition...it takes 2 minutes to get this done
good luck

I've done it many times. Gather all the remotes at once and take'em to your car. Get in , close and lock the doors. Insert and remove the key in the ignition about 6 or 7 times until you hear 2 cliking noises. The cluster lights may or may not flash at the same time. Then insert the key again and turn it to the ACC position. Press the unlock button on the first remote. The driver door should unlock at this time. Then lock the door manually again and press the unlock button on the second remote. Repeat this step for any remaining remotes (up to four). Do not open the door until you are done with the last remote control. Good luck and enjoy.

Don't forget to send me a check for $20. That's 50% off of what the Nissan stealer charges for that info.

What kind of range do you get with your remote. I just programmed the new one and thought I would have better range, but it still sucks.
I have to get right up to the car most of the time.

Does this work for actual keys as well? (such as a newly cut key with the chip and therefore having to reprogram all the keys and key fobs).

My car is a 2K3 and I can activate the remote from about 50 to 75 feet easily or even more. Maybe you should replace the battery.

I don't quite understand your question.

Recently I checked the range of my remote entry. Did it at night so I could see the lights go on/off. Was able to walk two city blocks away from the car line of sight and still get lock/unlock.
Battery was new. I was impressed.

Sorry, my question is, if you lose a key for example, you need a new key cut right? If the newly cut key is used to start the car without first being programmed, it'll fry the ECU (so I've been told). One therefore needs to program the newly cut key and all the other keys and remotes at the same time. I had to pay Nissan 40 bucks for them to program the new key and reprogram the other keys and remotes. Is there a simple way for an individual to do this? I've already paid Nissan to do this so it's too late for me. I am, however, curious.
How does one program a new key? Same way by inserting it a bunch of times and stuff?
Does this make more sense?

No, the key has to be programmed at the dealership. (This thread was dug up b/c I had to search something and figured I would post in it).

WRONG. You can do it yourself. If you bought it form ebay there are sometimes instructions with those things.

It is easy enough to program your key fob yourself. I've done it no problem.
However, it is my understanding that the key can only be programmed with a consultII, usually done at a dealership.
Are you saying this is not the case? If so, please tell us all how it is done.

Key fobs can be programmed without going to the dealership. However, new keys need to be programmed by the dealership. The reason for this is that a CONSULT II needs to be plugged into the car to program the keys. Using a newly cut key that is not programmed will not fry your ECU, the car just will not start.

How do you program the key? NOT THE FOB. I have programmed FOBs before, but the key has to be coded at the dealer****.

You may need to replace the battery with a new one if you haven't done so. I can arm/disarm my car in the parking lot from my floor (5th) at work.

so is it really true that you need to go to the dealership to program a new key, while back i got a remote car starter, and of course you need to give up a key to hide in the dash, i only had two keys and ordered a 3rd, cut it to mine and wasn't even thinking about the chip because it was new to me, the max is my second car and first car with a chip in the key, so i bring the car in to get everything installed and gave them the new key, said i need to get it reprogrammed at the dealership like it was no big deal but the guy in service said it isn't cheap and you need to reprogram all, so i ended up just using one of my original keys, not i have only one key that will start the car, the other will only open doors, i can never reprogram them without f*cking up the car starter so lets hope i never lose my keys ;DDDDDD

Hey you can just go to the dealership and get another key. I just got one from them and it cost me 47.50 for the key and being programed and cut.

I have a brand new key fob from a 2002 GLE I totalled, it was never used, can this keyfob be reprogrammed to my car or someone elses?

What is the price for these things anyway, I might sell it if it's worth it.

Also, what's the price for a brand new owners manual?

You can use it on quite a few other models. I bought one on ebay for $10 a few months back for a spare.

I have heard that other members on the org have taken the chip out of the keys and glued it to the underside of the dash for remote start.

Also, if you have a key that does not have a chip in it (removed it yourself) and then have a remote start, shouldn't you be able to use the one that has no chip to run the car after it is started?

An owners manual will cost you about 18 dollars. You can download them here: http://members.max-world.org/modules...download&cid=3 for free if you don't mind having a digital copy.

did you get this key programed to work with your other keys, because i was told that when you need to program a key, you need to reprogram all of them. you cannot have the same "code" (i'm saying code because i really donno what is programed in the chip) in the chip, it just makes a completely new "code" in the chips and probably the ecu.

That is why the car is allowed to have up to 4 keys "coded" into the car at one time.

No, you would only have to get the new keys program. You can get one now and key it and your old keys will still work. BUT, if you get a 5th key, your oldest key won't work, leaving you with a really old non working one and 4 new ones that work.
