Bought '02 Max SE 6-Speed Saturday

Ok, bought the car Sat. Glacier Pearl, Tan interior, Bose and Sunroof. No HLSD though Drives perfect . After The drive, I had to buy it. Shifter is a tad notchy, but not too bad at all. Excellent maintanence records and adult owned. I had all the recall stuff performed today.

When I took over ownership at $15,500, she had 46K mikles on it, and it is not even two years old yet (bought new 03/02). All highway miles. Never raced, modded or abused in any way.

So mechanically sound, and drove so excellently, that I had to overlook a ding in the rear bumper (no door or side dings of any kind) and one ding up front right at the bottom edge of grille/bumper. That one is thanks to a recieving hitch on back of their chevy truck.

She sure is a classy and a fun ride. Like my '95 Max GLE and my '91 Classic SE-R all rolled into one car (THANK YOU NISSAN) . No rattles or anything. Lexus quiet. As Mike Ness sings on his 1st solo Album: "I'm In Love With My Car..."

I already ordered the anneversary sills and brighter bulbs for the front marker lights.

The Fogs look yellow too in contrast to the hids. New bulbs for them are next on the agenda. As is the rear trunk carpeted "maxima" mat.

Tires are in great shape still, thanks to being adult owned and great Texas roads. One is brand new due to an unfixable flat not too long ago. All have perfectly even wear and about 20K worth of tread still (if I drive nice).

B.T.W. ...Anyone know where I can locate a 2002 Brochure to keep with my papers? Ebay had one for $10. Ouch!

And many thanks to all with their input in my previous thread while deciding on this car.

Congrats on the smart purchase. You'll love rowing through the gears on on-ramps. I still look forward to it.

You can get the '02 brochure from Nissan. Just call Nissan customer service and tell them you just purchased a used '02 and would like a brochure. I did this when I bought mine and after a little hunting in their system they sent me both the '02 and '03 brochures free of charge!

Great idea, I will do that. Thanks!

What bulbs has anyone put in their fogs to whiten and brighten them? I thought Custom maxima.com had some on their site, but found none offered. ideas anyone? I want some to match the look of my hids as close to possible without looking too blue and juvenile.

And has anyone installed the outside rear view mirors with turn signals in them? Are they of good quality and worth the time and effort?

Thanks again guys!

Thanks for all the warm welcome fellas. I really love the color combo on my car. The Glacier pearls is awesome. And it looks great with the tan interior (Cold and sharp on the outside and warm and inviting inside ) P.S. I wont miss the leather interior.

Now, I notice my owners manual has no instructions on changing fog light bulbs. Nissan quit making some things easy I see. And...thanks to housecor, found info to change these on his website.

...seems alot of 2002-03's have what's called "hood Flutter". mine has the least amount of it of all the 02-03's I've driven. I guess a Body shop can fix this? Any of you have this "flutter"? mine is not too noticeable, but if you look/stare as you're driving, it is there. And on the outside, if you push down on the hood when closed, it will travel down about a 1/16th to an 1/8th of an inch.

I just ordered some more stuff for it. The decorative and classy carpeted trunk mat with "Maxima" on it, and the body colored splash guards.

So...here is what is coming so far.

Anneversary door sills

Bright whites for front marker lights (the ones inside the headlamp unit)

Body color spash guards (set of 4)

Carpeted "maxima" trunk mat.

From what I read, I will pass on the turn signal rerview mirrors. Stick on? I am a quality freak, can't have "stick on" signal indicators.

Thanks guys and please post pics as often as you can to inspire me for more!

Jett
