5th Gen Warranty - HELP -

Hey guys,

I've posted about this before but i need some hard evidance. Quick rundown is this. I bought a 2k Max used from a dealer (Not nissan dealer). Car had 46k miles. I look up all the TSB's and the max matches about 4-5 of them (mainly being the tranny slip issue). I call Nissan Corp and ask about warranty. They say 3yr/36k mile bumper to bumper and thats it, no extended powertrain. I am told over and over by many people that its 5yr/60k mile powertrain. I call local dealership, they say 3yr/36k final answer Regis.

Someone had mentioned that right in their owners manual it states its 60k mile. Can anyone confirm this (60k powertrain warranty) and provide me with SOMETHING that i can take in hand to the dealership to prove this.. even if someone had warranty powertrain work done a copy of your invoice showing it, anything. I'm starting to become worried my tranny is going to fail because of this and the dealer wanted like 800 beans to fix it per the TSB.

TIA guys!

-jason

i just looked in my 2k manual...no mention of the 60k mile powertrain (or any warranty info for that matter).

i just had the slippage TSB done to my ride with 45k under the 60k mile powertrain thingy...so i assumed that was common knowledge. odd that they are claiming that isn't the case with you.

a possible solution: you need to find that warranty claim in print, correct? perhaps someone here with a 2k has their Maxima brochure from the dealership (or am i the only freak who keeps those with every car they buy?). i've missplaced mine (got a 2k2 one...but that will not help you much).

anyways, i know there are always several people selling them on ebay for a few bucks. you could find/buy one of those dealership brochure/catalog things - which list the warranty specs (at least i'm almost 100% so they do). or just ask someone selling one on ebay to look in it for you and tell you if it has any warranty info in the back with all the vehicle specs.

just a thought. hope you get all this worked out! that slippage sucks!

Dude I looked at my 2000 manual for my car and it looks the same as the one for 2003. I had the transmission stuff done to my car at about 45,000 and yes it was covered under the powertrain warranty. The thing is if its not doing it right now they won't fix it just because of the TSB. If they do your dam lucky. Nissan is too cheap to be honest. If your transmission is slipping and has less than 60,000 miles, take it in and demand that it be fixed per manufactures warranty or you will file a complaint with the district attorny in your area. I've never been able to be nice and get things fixed with Nissan.

I also looked at my original window sticker and Nissan conveniently left that feature off there. It is however in my warranty manual, which like I said looks just like the posting for the 2003. Try calling 800-nissan1 and tell them about it.

This is simple. WHen I bought my 2k max with 37k miles I called Nissan Customer Service to register my name/address with the vehicle. They take the VIN and can tell you right over the phone what warranty it still has. I had an oil pressure sensor changed, under warranty, at around 59k. Unless this was a fleet vehicle (in some cases I believe that can void the warranty) you have a powertrain warranty. Just call Nissan customer service.

I wonder if I'm missing something here, because to my knowledge and everybody elses, it seems, the powertrain is just common knowledge. We all know we have it. I'm not sure why this dealership is saying you don't.

Maybe im missing something... i also bought a 2k max 2nd hand from a non nissan dealer, and the dealer i bought it from put it in writing and verbally told me that the warranty for 5y/60k is transferable. I bought it with 36k miles on it. Not only this but www.nissanusa.com "Every Nissan is backed by Nissan's New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which includes 36-month/36,000-mile basic bumper-to-bumper coverage, and 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain coverage. For additional protection, you can also add Security+Plus, the only extended service agreement offered by Nissan. For your convenience, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about your warranty. Just click to the left to review the warranty questions. You can also use the link to the left to download a PDF of the Nissan warranty for your particular vehicle."
Sorry if im missing something but it states right there.

b@tch like hell, man! try calling customer service again and act like a new person inquiring about warranty on a 2k. see if they can fax you something in writing.
