35% Tint?

My max is going in Friday to have its windows tinted... I am trying to decide between 20% and 35% (the legal limit in GA) -- Any opinions? Any pictures of Stardust with Gray interior with 35%? My old Honda had 35% with Beige interior and it hardly looked tinted!

I've got 15% all around and it looks tight. It takes some getting used to driving at night though.

You're right. 35% isn't very dark. I'd highly recommend 20% - just right IMHO. Here's a shot of mine (sheer silver) with 20% all around:

A VERY sunny day:

A hazy day:

More shots on my site.

while 35% isn't very dark, you have to make the determination if a darker tint is worht the trouble should you get pulled over.

I'm really conflicted between the two... I don't want to spend the money on a tint job if it is not going to make a huge difference... on the other hand i would care not to get any more tickets than necessary

I have 35% on my Max and my KingCab. It is dark enough for me without being too dark. Check my homepage for pics.

I got 20% although the law here is 35%. I don't drive much so I've been lucky the past 2 years. *knocks on wood*

overall, what has been everyone's experience with 20% and the law? It seems that they are really not looking for tinting issues... but alas... i suppose it is the luck of the draw

I don't think cops drive around looking for illegal tint. As long as you don't break any laws like running stop lights, speeding, etc. the chances of them stopping you just for illegal tint is rare.

I don't think that cops would give you too hard a time about tints. Since our cars are somewhat classy, they will probobly just think it's supposed to be dark. In the case that you do get pulled over, just roll your windows down.

I have 35% up front and 5% in rear. In New Jersey of course.

This is how it looks on a partly cloudy day.

And this in better weather.

it's not like we're driving around in a 94 civic skimming 2" above the pavement at 40mph sounding like something that should be going at least 120

I doubt they think our windows are factory tinted dark like some SUVs. The front windows on SUVs (Suburbans/Tahoes) can't be too dark but the rears can be very dark because they come with a dark factory tint.

Had the 20% about 4 months and no issues with cops. Like others have said, I don't think you'll have a problem if you don't draw attention to yourself with wild driving or "look at me" mods like clear sidemarkers with xtreme white bulbs. Also, if you get pulled over I recommend rolling down your windows. Remember, cops don't like tint because they can't see you. Do them a favor by rolling your windows down, be courteous and respectful, and I doubt you'll have a problem.

I actually don't know what brand my tint is - the shop used a higher quality gray tint thats slightly thicker and supposed to resist fading, but I don't remember the brand name.

Actually, our legal limit is 50% in front and as dark as you wanna go in rear....I have 35% all around, and get harassed every time inspection comes around

I have OEM 20% on my Saturn Vue (back and rear doors) and decided to do the fronts. I went to the installer with all intentions of getting 20% to match. After seeing his display, I p*ssied out and told him to put 35% instead. This was definitely not dark enough.

Lesson here is go with your first instincts... Shoulda.. coulda.. woulda..

the "fuzz"? not really sure whta u mean by that... but i've had 18% tint on my car for a year now... and i've gotten pulled over a few times in gwinnett and dekalb counties.... neither of them said anything about the tint.... i did however get pulled over one time for clear sidemarkers.......i think the ga cops aren't too bad as far as ticketing people for tints.... but u never know...

what about in va? i know the legal limit there is 50% up front and 35% rear sides, so is it ok to go 35?? what about formula one tint, is that tint black or charcol color because the shop i want to get my windows tinted at has formula one tint and does it fade at all? But i never had any experience with that at all. does anyone have formula 1 tint installed on there max and what shade, ex. (classic/standard, metallized)...please help

i've got 35% all around - which is legal limit here in NC. it's not very dark at all - wish i could of done closer to 20%.

i could of done darker on the back passenger and rear windows...but i think two-tuned jobs look kind of funny from the side view. i do wish i would of done a bit darker on the rear windshield, however.

check out my homepage for pics of 35% on gray.

First of all... gsumax, Gooodam you're max is nice. How can this be the first time I'm seeing it?!

Secondly, Don't make the same mistake I did. No offense to others w/ 35, but I TOTALLY REGRET getting it that light! I'm even considering changing to 20 and taking the hit!

I support 20 all around. I've had two cars w/ at least 20, and never a problem.

If you want, you can chk out my homepage for another look at 35 on Sterling Mist...
