My H&R's and Illuminas are awesome

I just got my H&R's and Illumina's installed yesterday!! What a difference!! Gone is the sloppy, loose, and at the same time jittery stock SE suspension . My car rides very solid, smooth, tight and controlled now!! It is like driving a completely different car!! It is really too bad that Nissan didn't put this kind of suspension setup on the Maxima to begin with. I have Eibach springs on my Turbo Supra, and the ride is very harsh (compared to the H&R's), and that is exactly why I didn't buy Eibach's for the Maxima. I wanted my daily driver to be civilized, and finally it is!!

I second turbo_gg. I've had the H&R/Illumina combo for about 1500 miles and am very impressed with the overall improvement in handling and ride....with absolutely no negative effects. Yes, the car could stand to be lower in the front, but I also was looking for a no hassle mod and it does look much better than stock. I too have Eibach on my weekend car (TransAm WS6) - extremely rough ride, but great for the track. However, I imagine the Eibachs are not too much rougher than stock on the Maxima. I says this because I recently drove an IS300 with Eibachs that was very civilized (sedan vs. sportscar).

Things changed

Went from stock to GR-2 and Tein H-Techs. If it wasn't for the damn bad install ("thanks" RPM motorworks, you'll never see my money again!), I'd call it perfect for my tastes: very smooth, nice and good handling.

Ok, right now I'm on Eibach and GR2's (for about 20k). I think want my ride a little softer, so my question is which struts should I switch to?

so If I want a combo that is closest to stock and allows me to keep my stock camber, but with better handling, it sounds like I want to go with H & R springs and Illumina struts, is that the concensus?

B&G sport suspension with stock shocks and struts!!

but i do have a question for someone to answer, is it ok to cut a coil off the spring? and if soo, exactly how long will the ride last? because i want to go lower but i dont know what to do, and coilovers are just outta the picture as of right now!! (unless someone's got some used ones their looking to unload???) and about maxxspeed, i always hear about them, but have no idea where to get any of their products at?

answers to any of these questions, just PM me. thanks

anyone have vogtland springs on their 2k+? if so chime in please.
want to get rid of the maxspeeds for something a bit more refined and tuned. i've heard good things from mustang owners, but i don't know of any max owners with them to know their experiences. thanks.

Has anyone compiled a list of Spring Rates? That is one of the most important things you need to know when choosing Shocks. I'm intrested to find out what the rates are for Tein S springs.

How are the JIC's FLT 1 or FLT 2 on the Max? I have a 03 SE and am looking to put them on. Any opinions here or advice about them?

I set them at 2/2 for now, and am very happy with it. Sure, I could set it firmer for more performance, but this is my daily driver, so comfort was my #1 priority.

Go with the Illumina's, and set them at #2 in front, and #2 in back, and go from there. If you need to, you can dial them up or down to suit your needs.

There is no "sag" with H&R's, so let's clear that up once and for all. The H&R springs lower the front 1.4", and the back 1.3" . Due to the large front wheel wells on our cars, it visually appears that the back is slightly lower than the front.

ok, so I'm better off keeping stock springs in the back and H&R up front to prevent the a$$ sag visual appearance.

That's what is holding up my decission. I want the back to look either level or higher than the front. I only want a modest drop. And while Housecors's site is great it is confusing. The stats say one thing and the pics say another.
H&R's drop the rear 1.3 and Eibach 1 but the pics both say you end up w/ 26.

All I do know is I am putting them on w/ Illuminas.

Also do you need the alignment kit?

that's how it looks with Tein H Techs and KYB GR-2's. In this pic the rear looks just a bit lower due to the shade, because rear wheel is tucked in more. Also, that's with my 50lb sub in the trunk.

Just instal maxspeed only at the front with stock strut. I know it sound stupid. But, the ride was sooooooo smooth. even smoother and much more comfortable than stock spring. I like the stage though. The front, and rear have about 3 fingers for the space between tire and fender. Hope this help for people who wants to make a decision.

I decide to purchase maxspeed among others just because the price, and stock ride. Also i don't want to change the strut from the begining, so mild drop is my preference. Hope this help.

i am looking at changing springs from maxspeeds to a better feeling spring...to me the maxspeeds are decent, but they really are poor over expansion joints, and with the illuminas set on higher settings, you can feel the struts trying to do the springs job. i am trying to find a firm, but not jarring ride, and i feel that over abrupt changes in pavement, the maxspeeds are beating the crap out of my car. i want to have a german feel to the car, not the japanese feel...anyone know what i am talking about...and most important, anyone driven with multiple spring set ups with the same sturts? feed back? thanks...i am leaning to the eibach or the tein...i want a nice drop at least of the maxspeeds, but more refinement in the spring, and that is why i need YOU to help me! Thanks.

tein s.tech/kyb gr2's - but i'm leanin on swapping struts to tokico illuminas for a bit of a smoother ride and less bounciness - s.tech drop is very nice, clean and even imo - gives a bit of a harsh bouncy ride but nothing too intolerable- good luck if this helps anybody with or that want to get tein s.techs/kyb gr2 set up -
