(auto) Shift kits available??

Im totally new to the Maxima and was curious if they made a shift kit for Maximas? Also what are some good sites to shop for Maxima performance etc parts? Also what options do I have as far as moving the rev limiter up a tad? Is there a programmer or new pcm chip?

Shift kit ?.....sorry bro. You didnt buy a 68 Chevelle, or an 89 Stang....easy on the shift kit lingo. I will let you slide because you are new. The only thing you can do to your auto tranny is a Valve Body Mod.....enjoy the org !

BTW, I had a WS6 94 Trans am.....with lingenfelter headers and heads....and other goodies. I like your videos....but your times seem slow...

Thats odd considering that didint make WS6 Trans Am's in 94. They didnt start back until 96.

or a 03 Vette, 03 Stang GT, 00 Trans Am, which of course use shift kits But thanks for the info. The VB mod seems pretty simple and effective mod.

BTW- if you had an LT1 then you should know 108mph for a bolt on LT1 is actually above average. Especially considering it only trapped 101mph stock. Go check out CZ28.com and search some bolt on LT1 times. I'll let you slide cause your new to the LT1 stats Or at least according to your thinking the times are slow. A friend of mine has a LT1 Z28 with the exact mods i have plus a CC306 cam on stock heads and traps 114mph and runs mid to high 12's. Although im sure you know the potential of an LT1 car since you had one of course. None of the info is meant for bashin, im just backin my car seeming "Slow" up hehe. Although i have a vid of me against a buddies 00 C5 a4 Vette to remind me im not too aweful slow during my depressed times

Welcome to the boards man, I guess you've already noticed how slow the auto shift You can get a vavlebody upgrade in 2-3 diff stages. You can also try to unplug something under the hood which shoots line pressure up causing harder shifts, only problem is if it shifts at part throttle it feels like the dash is about to fly off and know your head off

Check out southwestautoworks.com for some good prices...CALL them, when you order. Cattman.com also has some things that might interest you

Youre right. I made a typo on my WS6.....thats a 96....got the Yankees memorablia to back it up !. I apologize for that. Im not going to argue with you about mods , and what they produce. I had , my share of $$ in that TA. I know what it could and could not to do. Traction was a never-ending problem. I smoked my share of euro cars and imports .......sone of which were heavily modded...I did lose to a few........just the name of the game.........No shift kits yet !

BTW, whats an 00 A4 Maxima Se..I didnt see that in my brochure ?

Robjta81,
Welcome to the .org. I guess a question I have is, if you have your Trans Am which I'm assuming is your recreational car, why is there a need to undertake modifying your Maxima (which I'm assuming is your daily driver). Trust me, coming from a HUGE muscle car fan and an avid sportbike rider, I can appreciate the need to go fast, but talking about adding a shift kit to a Maxima doesn't really seem to be a very good way to keep the Maxima what it is, a reliable car. Just seems like more problems may arrise from an upgrade such as that. Just my $.02. Your TA looks nice BTW.

Thanks. Well im not actually looking to make it fast by any means. Im just wanting to improve upon some weak points in it. Just like firming up the shifts a little, i noticed the rev limiter kicked in soon (not sure where the power actually cuts out at on the whp graph) so i'd like to raise it a tad. Maybe just an Intake and exhaust and the rest will be all show. And yes the TA is the toy. And will soon be out of commision for a while.

It is a 2000 (00) A4 (4-speed Automatic) Maxima SE. Of course most people know that a4 isnt part of the actual car name. Its just there so people dont ask is it a 5speed or auto.

Thanks alot man. Yea I can see how it would jerk you bad at part throttle with that shift kit. I see how it downshifts really early when your on the throttle.

Its a shame the automatics in these Nissans are so pathetic. American automatics can handle a lot more punishment than these weak things.
