I did a search and didn't really find anything related..

What mileage are folks seeing alternator failures? I have enough miles I am thinking about replacing mine as a preventative measure. I also want to purchase one wound for higher output.

Has anyone had trouble with a certain brand of higher amperage alternator or maybe installed one a while ago (75k+ ?) and had trouble-free operation?

I guess just looking for any recommended brands or brands to definately avoid.
