for those with cf hood

For those of you with carbon fiber hoods....

Are the hood shocks utilized?

How do you remove the windshield squirters?

Any special cleaning required?

usually the CF hoods are not pre drilled for hood shocks. Also considering the fact that the CF hood weighs considerably less than the stock hood, the stock shocks would shoot the CF hood up too fast.

the windshield squirters can be removed by just pulling out the lines. I've seen members that just plugged them up also.

no special cleaning required. But it sure looks nice when you wax it

You may wanna PM Mike Jez (i.e. BlackbirdVQ), he can give you an answer. I don't think he comes into the 5th gen forum much anymore, but he answers PM's. He's always busy building up some insane creation.

The VIS hood (like mine) already has washer nozzle holes pre-drilled. It does not require special cleaning but I like to you windex on mine... the clear coat finish stands out more that way.
Hood shocks cannot be used when you get a CF hood.... not sure why but you cant use them. Check my site for pics.

You cant use the Hood shocks cause it has too much force so when you go to shut the hood, you will crack the CF hood near where the hood shock is mounted.

it's like 10+ lbs lighter....just unplug the cabling for the washer nozzles, and then squeeze the washer itself and it just comes right out...real easy....as far as the shocks, i've been wanting to make something that can support it....it's annoying as hell w/o them...

Thanks for the help.

I got done around 8pm last night. The VIS oem hood needed to have the stock hinge holes drilled a little, because the fit wasn't exact. I think I will hold off on the hood shocks and come up with an alternative.

when I got mine I was afraid to drill hole for the hood shock mount cuz I heard that there's possibilities that surrounding the hood shock could form a crack and it can extand that's why I didn't get the hood shock on. I carry snap on tools hood stand in my trunk......
