Denso Spark Plugs or NGK?

i was wondering if Denso iridium spark plugs are worth getting for my 2k Max or if i should just stick with NGK? i have 45k on my car and i wanted to replace my stock plugs. Do they make that big of a difference? Thanks for the feedback. (sorry no search)

I replaced mine recently with NGK's. IMO I would stick with them.

Both companies make very good spark plugs. Either is fine, just get the cheaper.

no need to get iridium spark plugs for NA cars. Save yourself some money.

I too am looking at getting sparkplugs and new coil packs for my car and want to know which would be best to get. I am not FI. Is copper and platnium more for FI and Nitrous. please point me in the right direction.

Iridium if you are boosting or nitrous. For NA, regular copper plugs will work fine.

What's better copper or platnium.

I have Iridium, runs good, but probably overkill for the Max.

Your choice. Platinum offers better corrosion and erosion resistances and has a longer performance life than standard copper plugs.

I was looking at these to choices. Both are for our engine.

NGK V-groove copper BKR5E-11
or
NGK G-power Platnium BKR5EGP

NVM. Not much price difference. Won't hurt to try out the Platinum.

Actually I found them cheaper. Courtesy Nissan has them for $9.37 each PFR5G-11 the NGK laser platniums.

I have put NGK BKR5E-11's in 3 VE's, 1 VG and 1 VQ.

VG had autolites that were in decent shape, owner reported a smoother idle and sounded better (less raspy) at the muffler.

VQ was my Dads. Had factory Platinums in, had developed a studder at 3300 and 3600rpm. Replaced with the BKR5E-11's in it and the studder went away.

VE
-Mine had 5 Bosch platinums and one Bosch +4 in it, overall seemed more solid, but since I was having other problems at the time couldnt notice much.
-1 owner just noticed it idled smoother
-1 owner said nothing, lol.

On the VQ, just push the vacuum lines/rail out of the way. It was getting in the way of my extension and making the job a pain. moved them 1/2 an inch and bam, much easier (not as easy as the VE though).

I just prefer copper, both price and performance.

Why would you need new plugs at 45K? The OEM platinums should last at least 60K.

I need to replace mine soon and intend to stay with the OEM platinum plugs as my car is not a daily driver. I am worried about coppers not lasting 30K as it would take 5 or 6 years to get there at the rate I'm going and corrosion/performance could be a problem in the interim.

Here's your basic spark plug info...

Copper = Best performance due to the fact that copper is an excellent conductor of electricity. However, there is not as much corrosion resistance here, so they need to be replaced more often.

Platinum = More corrosion resistance, and a slightly better resistance to misfiring than copper. Worse performance, however, since platinum is a worse conductor of electricity than copper is.

Irridium = For a N/A application, not at all necessary. They are more for cars that are boosted, or in some cases running nitrous.

If you're going to be changing the plugs yourself and want the best performance, just snag a set of quality copper plugs. If you're having a shop do the work, have them install platinum since they'll last longer. Irridiums if you're boosted, or seriously considering it.

PFR5G-11??? what the hell are those? On NGK's website, they give three options for our cars; Standard-LFR5A-11, Laser Platinum-PLFR5A-11, and Iridium IX-LFR5AIX-11.

Our manuals indicate that our cars should be replaced with NGK's. I would stiick with stock.

This is only for two reasons, really:

1. Durability of the platnium plugs vs. copper.
2. The ever so slight fact that copper plugs are more prone to misfire (if they're not changed regularly).

I'm not trying to force anyone's hand, but spark plugs are very much like the misconception that premium fuel should be used in all cars because it provides "better performance." Nothing could really be further from the truth.

I would go with NGK iridium IX. Runs good so far in my 2k2 se. The mechanic at the dealership said that he would only use NGK in a maxima because if you use other plugs, the different resistance of the plug screws up the reading to the ECU. He said he's had several people use different plugs and the cars misfired and skipped a lot. Stick with the NGK's, but remember some year maximas require the whole intake manifold to come off to get to the rear plugs. Cost me $43 for plugs through e-bay, $23 for intake manifold gasket, and $280 for those guys to put them in(I put in the front three). Pretty steep for plugs, could have got a warpspeed y-pipe instead. pissed off.

NGK Iridium

After just reading and reading through threads. I'm working on a build with JWT C-2 cams and while I am installing them I'm going to be replacing my spark plugs. It seems that the NGK Iridium are the best bet and seem to be what is recommended for the NA build. LFR5AIX-11. Anyone have any suggestions or anything? I'm getting the cams, valve springs, TS flash, already have bolts ons. Going to be changing the spark plugs while I'm in there. Is there significant power gain from the Iridum plugs?

No, there's not a significant power gain with Ir's. Smoother idle and less frequency of changing plugs are the main points of interest.
