Looking for suggestions on basic upgrade of Bose system for 2k maxima
I too currently have the Bose system and have been thinking of replacing the speakers. One issue I have heard of (at least with another Nissan made car - 300Z TT) are the Bose amps hooked up to the speakers. When you repalce the speakers and don't repalce the amps, you could run into some issues. Maybe not with the Maxima - not sure. Check out Kove Audio (owner previously owned Lanzar) out in California. They've got stuff in Fred Durst's Porche, Mic Fleetwood's Caddy, and Everlast's Hummer. Very good quality stuff and it sounds great. Their site is http://www.koveaudio.com - check them out.
Bazooka Tube
I have added a 10" powered Bazooka tube, which does help w/ more thump. When I take it out to get rid of the car you won't be able to tell it was ever there. I use the cargo net instead of bolting the straps down to point it towards a corner of the trunk for most bass. A friend of mine gave it to me or I would have bought the top of the line w/adjustable cross-over and remote volume. This model has a non adjustable 85hz cross-over. We tapped in at the speaker outputs from the amp underneath the original woofer, not the low level going to the amp. I have also tried the system w/the current woofer dissconnected and found it sounded better connected, that might change if you get the adjustable cross over model. I was hoping for a little more but happily take what I got. Now for the bad part, RATTLES! no details, just lots of them, you are on your own, I haven't started looking but the are may more that I would have thought in places I can't even touch.
