Old news man. It affects just about every Nissan made in 2002 and 2003. Just take it in and get it done. Just don't go to Acme Nissan in NJ, :lol

I have a question, what do they replace when doing this recall?

Actually they replace 3 sensors. An Engine Crank sensor and 2 Cam Position Sensors. Should only take an hour at the most.

Yea... but they'll keep your car all day so you're forced to find lunch transportation and a ride back to pick up your car.....

My car is in storage but.... if this is REAL serious I will go get plates and insurance and pull the darn thing out and take it over to the dealer to have it done. Since this costs me a day's time and at least a day's pay, I will resort to my old "if it ain't broke don't fix it" unless some helpful sole will give me real good reason for taking it in.

I assume they have your VIN number and your address. I'm sure Nissan won't notify you unless they need to.

No rush man, you can have it done anytime. You could do it 3 years from now if you wanted, it's a recall.

To others:
If you are not the original owner of the car, you most likely will not recieve mail from Nissan about the recall. So be proactive and call them to find out.

If you dont get a letter from Nissan but your VIN is in the range of affected vehicles, should I still be able to take it to the dealer to get this fixed?

Do you really think the dealer got an itemized list of VIN numbers out of the 572,000 cars that may be affected? They got a range. It it falls in this range don't take a chance and if the dealer lies to you go to another dealer.

Have you brought in your '03 to a Nissan Dealer before for service, besides the 1st complimentary oil change. Same thing happened to me.

Took mine in this morning.

Got there at 7:30 and went to the waiting room. At 9:30 I went out to see what was going on...they still hadn't brought it in. No one had even looked at it. Finally at 10:00am they pull it in after the service manager couldn't figure out why it was never brought it. 15 min later they are done.

I'm still trying to figure out how to answer the survey when it comes. Supposedly, they had some guys out with pregnant wives...but c'mon...don't make the reservation or let me bring my car in at 7:30 if you know you can't get to it until after 10:00am (and then only if you raise a stink).

My report only shows ONE sensor replaced:
23731-AL627 Crankshaft Posi

You guys getting three sensors must have had some dutiful service guys or due to the VIN range were up for another sensor.

Who knows what they did. The P/N for the crankshaft position sensor is 23731-AL660, not 23731-AL627. That is the P/N for the camshaft position sensor. It could be just a typo and they did both, but I'd make sure if I were you.

Called Nissan to check the part number...23731-AL627 is the Crankshaft Position Kit

Kit includes:

2 Cam sensors
1 Crank sensor

That's good to know as I had this service performed this morning and had the same parts reference of 23731-AL627. I was getting worried for a minute.

If anyone is in Greenville, SC, I highly recommend Crown Nissan. They took care of me rather quickly and gave me an '04 Max SE to tool around in. It was loaded to include Navi and the two-seats in the rear. Nice car, but not worth the $32 they were asking (dealer demo).

Ok, reading the TSB, that P/N stated sensor, not kit.

Mine took an hour to replace. Funny thing is, i've been having non stop trans problems, slipping 2nd to 3rd. Had the sensors replaced, no more problems. Chris

It was probably the ECU reset that fixed your problem. What does the cam sensor measure and how could it affect our vehicles?
