Nice morning run with a 2004 Audi A4

I know already ... it's almost embarassing to even compare the two cars, (A4 vs '03 Max AT) especially when the Audi was 1.8Turbo Quattro but here's what happend... It was 3:30am on Saturday and i was on a almost deserted expressway when i saw these nice HID light approaching me very quickly. We were getting close to a red light so i slowed down and let him pass me so i could go behing him. There was another car waiting at the red light.
I knew the guy was ready to run away from me so i was ready too...for a chase. Green light came up and he gunned his car...and i did the same but guess what...my Craptensas started spinning pretty bad on and off for about 30 feet ...horrible, plus the road wasn't really dry at spots. The Audi, on the other hand had an excellent start...he pulled about 5-6 cars on me by the time i got my full traction. By 60-65mph i was catching up to him really quick but was still behind him. At 95mph i was close enough to be able to pass him... ... here we slowed down and he ran his flashers and i flashed my high beams at him. Wanted to actually talk to him and ask if the Audi was stock but it was too late anyways.

It was a nice morning "chase" and i have to admit that i was surprised at how well this 1.8Turbo pulled and kept up with me (in front of me) all the way to 95mph. True - my tires embarassed me so bad...the Audi owned me off the line, no doubt...it was more than obvious....i was strugguling for traction for many many seconds, it seemed forever. At least i was able to gain on him later.

Next day - i put a pair of brand new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on front axle - no more Potenzas - never. Huge difference, but still able to spin them off the line.

If he kept up with you, he was modded, which is cheap and easy for the 1.8, or something is wrong with your car.....

I said that he was able to "keep up with me" in front of me to 95mph, ... it was after my lousy start where he gained a lot on me. The whole time after that i was catching up to him, i wish it didn't take me that long(95mph) though.
I don't know, i am also wondering if he was modded. I used to drive Audi 200 Turbo so i have some good idea what Audi turbo engines *can* do - everything is possible.
And what could be so wrong with my car? All TSB's done, runs fine, only 30k miles, no warning lights...

I smoked one of those off the line a few months back. Didn't even try really. Just held the revs at 1500, rapidly let off the gas, and I was immediately 1 1/2 car lengths ahead of him while he was still spooling up his wimpy turbo. He flipped me the bird all the way down the pike, he was so ****ed. Stock, those cars are VERY slow. A newer 1.8t(w/180HP) in a Golf would not be so easy to take.
