After seeing the thread about dark tails on dark cars, I am thinking of making the transformation myself. I have never thought the 2k2/2k3 tails looked that great on a dark car. If I don't trade them out, then the only other option would be to paint them.

don't need any extra parts. just swap them out. it is an exact same housing.

you need the wiring harness that holds the bulbs because the bulbs won't fit but the harness will plug right in to the existing plug

You def need harnesses for the 01 model year and you will need new blinker bulbs. Done this mod myself.

I am not sure what harness you guys are talking about here. my friend has a 2k maxima and I swapped my 2k2 tails with his, it took us 10 mins, we just unplugged and swapped them.

the thing you unplugged is the harness we are talking about. the one that has the actual bulb sockets on it. the bulb sockets are not interchangeable between the two styles

i don't remember cutting anything, it was a long time ago. as far as i remember, i unscrewed them and unplugged all the bulbs from the harness. I still can't understand the part you guys are talking about that is different. Do you mean the extra plastic housing where the bulb actually sits and the harness plugs into it? is that what you say is different? Then it didn't really apply to me when i swapped lights with my friend, because we didn't take them out.

i just swapped mine. i used the same 2k2 harness. i just put the signal in at a little angle and turned it a bit. holds perfectly.
