Guys,

I want to find a mounting bracket/drawer type thing that I can put inside my trunk under my rear deck (same place most ppl put their cd changer) to mount my mini-tower computer there. Do you know anyone who would make such a device?

It would be just larger than the mini-tower, it would be sturdy, and it would attach to the metal inside the trunk under the rear deck. I'd be able to pull the mini-tower out like a drawer.

Thoughts?

No thoughts at all...but questions

What are you doing with the PC? Are you running embedded 2K or are you running a full-on Win2K system? What'd you do, wire it to a touch-screen in your dash? Customized system around the GPS app, or full-on OS?

Full-on Win2k. Wired it to my Alpine CVA-1005. Using an ultrathin keyboard on the visor and a trackball in the console for control. Also an IRMan to allow remote control of various software programs (winamp, etc.)

Damn....

Okay, that's a lot of effort for the car computer. Do you have any pictures of how that looks on the dash and visor? I'm a fan of your specs, but I like it all to look good...what does a trackball on the dash and a keyboard on the visor end up looking like?

my suggestion would either be a local machine shop or a custom cabinet shop. they make trash cans to pull out of cabinets, this is the same idea. it might be kind of pricey, but from the looks of what you have invested so far i'm sure it would be worth the cost. hope this helps.

Thanks for asking, I've been posting..

The problem was with the tcu .. just a loose wire -- they fixed it and all is working great.

I think it looks great. There are some folks here who've seen the setup at the last NE meet. Let's see what they thought....

Far and away the LEAST elegant piece is the one that I started this thread about -- having a mini-tower sliding around in your trunk.

I'll take some pics soon.
