Replacing manual shift ****?

Can anyone tell me how to take the old shift **** off and install the new one? For a 2000 manual maxima...

All you have to do is twist....really hard. In my case, on a hot summer day...i had to twist, use various vice grips and twist more, then i went at it with a knife and cut it to pieces....it was really stuck on there. Good luck!

It's glued on really well. You'll need a strap wrench and turn it counter-clockwise until you hear a "snap". That "snap" sound will be the glue releasing. Good luck!
