None that I've heard... Harmbone2k2 had the same set-up and he didn't have any complaints as far as I know.... but you should probably ask him and Cubanato for the details.

I want to do a mod that supplies some gains and so I don’t have to remove it before an emissions test. Since the pre-cats stay on with a Cattman Y-pipe install, are the HP gains worth the price?

You can still pass emissions with headers, provided the main cat is fully warmed up when ya go in. As for whether the y-pipe is worth it... it depends.... if you're gonna get headers in the long run then don't bother with it... if you're like me and just wanna do some simple bolt-ons... then the 6-10 hp from a y-pipe is enough... for now. But in all honesty, if you're gonna spend 350 on a y-pipe, wouldn't ya rather just spend the $550 for some HS headers?

Yeh I would but what if they do a visual inspection when I do my emissions test? Headers are not a mod I want to take off and put back on. Then again can emission people do a visual inspection of headers?

I honesly don't know how it is where you are... but I can tell ya that there are people in your area with headers. For one, I know that Mike (BlackbirdVQ) has headers in his 5th Gen and I doubt he's had problems with emissions. Pose this question in the local forums to get a better answer.

Thanks for your help. Ive got 2 more questions if you can answer them. 1 is how do you get into your local forum? And 2 do you have any experience with a JET performance chip or the Apexi SAFC and with one would be a better choice for an 03 max with a injen CAI - greddy cat back and cattman y-pipe? I know I'm going off topic.

1. Click on the words Regional Maxima Groups in the main forums.maxima.org and you'll see em.

2. I have no experience with JET chips myself except what I've been told here that they really suck and do nothing.

3. An AFC will help ya tune your AFR but unless you have all the bolt-ons OR your AFR is messed up and needs adjustment, it won't do much in terms of gains. I know MadMaxNH or whatever his name is tuned with an SAFC despite having only an intake and cat-back but got some decent gains because his AF was funky to begin with.

There are pics on Cattman's website I believe, or you could just call him and have him email you some pics.
