So the max threw a code the other day P0138 - rear oxygen sensor (bank 1) ...whatever.

So with the collective "infinite wisdom" of all the org members here's a question for you all: Is oxygen sensor replacement something that you recommend the dealer do or would you trust a decent mechanic replace them? I'm not trying to go broke up in here but I want the job done right and I've heard O2 sensors are a ***** to change.

Let me know what you guys think.

I had one changed at Midas once. Cost me like $20 and I brought them the part which I bought at Autozone. No need for dealership if you know what the problem is and can reset computer yourself.

Yup, if you ever wonder why they charge to much, its because your willing to go there and fix it at the dealer. If a local guy cant fix a O2 sensor, he wont be in business long.

Avoid the dealer like the plague. Purchase the oxygen sensor from a local parts store or online and DIY. You'll be glad you did. And most autoparts stores will clear the code for you when you're done.
