'02-'03 Steering Wheels - All heated?

After driving an '02 with a heated wheel, and another '02 without a heated wheel I'm wondering if the wheel itself might be the same, and the switchgear behind it to actually tell it to heat might be the only difference. From a manufacturing point of view it could make sense to have them all go down the line w/ the same part, and then just add the switch and any necessary wiring to cars w/ the heated wheel option. I know it sounds crazy, but I've heard of stranger. Does anyone have access to part numbers for the actual wheels to see if there is a difference in the wheel numbers?

Welcome to the org. I'm sorry I don't have the part number, but you might want to check the sticky's to see if there is a part list for 02-03 maximas. I know that there is one there for 00-01. BTW, cool name.

Nissan-Auto-Parts-Dealer.com shows only one wheel for the SE and doesn't indicate whether it is heated or not. That means either there's only one replacement wheel, or that my suspicion is true and they're all the same and the switchgear is the difference. I'd be psyched if it was option B.

Try asking Daveb. His number is in the FAQ.

According to the online parts system on Jerry Rome Nissan, the heated and non-heated steering wheels have different part #'s. Just to really shock you, the List price on the non-heated wheel is $656.60, and the heated wheel is $813.83 Going to go and buy one real quick, right??

Looks like that answers it then. Maybe somebody will break into my car (carefully) and only take my non-heated wheel.

Thanks.
