What can I do for 500 bucks

I have a 4th gen, I know what I would do with $500.
My buddy has a 5-speed 2000 SE fully loaded, I mean more options than I knew were availabe.(my car has no options, my car is ugly and it sucks to be a passenger in it) He knows that I am into modifying Maximas and he wants to know what he can do with $500. He wants a blend of handling, performance and hopefully tint his windows.

I told him to lower it and get a y-pipe then later on get an intake and struts/shocks.

REAR SWAY BAR ($110-250 depending on brand) is THE best thing he could possibly do with limited money - makes a HUGE difference. 5th gens don't have an OEM RSB, so better add one on!!!! Then with the other $250, get an intake (Frankencar, Injen, whatever)

I say get a RSB and a good tint. That should be just about it for $500. If he has any money left over, fill up the tank, buy a good CD and enjoy his car.

RSB and Intake. don't go lowering the car unless you can afford new struts at the same time.

i recently spent:
$110 on a progress sway bar,
$105 on 32% titanium tint all around,
and i have approx. $250 left for either an intake or springs.

thats under $500 and i believe i spent my money well.

ok forget the tint, he wants to spend all 500 on performance and handling. He hates the wheel gap so springs are probably going on first. Are the Y-pipes as good for 5th gens as they are for the 4th??

please excuse my ignorance of 5th gens!!

I feel a huge gain witha y pipe... but i could live without it compared to having my car lowered... but some have claimed a 15-20 hp claim with a y pipe and high flow filter combination. The y pipe is considered the "best bang for the buck" mod for 2k and 2k1.

I think if you get the GD on the y pipe ($160) and maybe find some struts and springs for sale in the used car forum you might be a little over $500. Good Luck.

he should make his own intake $50
full exhaust with y pipe installed:300-350
100 bucks he could get tint done...if you get a good deal...probably need 150 though...

thats the best performance he can do....with 5 billz

a suspension is almost out of the question...good shocks alone are 350-400 + springs/coilovers + 4 dustboots with shortened bumpstops + Install.

frankencar intake, budget y-pipe, fstb, and rsb would probably the best way to spend 500 on handling and power

dont get springs without struts.
