Engine Sensor Replacement

I'm taking in my '02 SE for the engine sensor replacement (recent recall)tomorrow morning. How entailed is this replacement? How much are they're going to have to remove in order to replace it? I'm asking so that I can check under the hood afterwards to ensure that they've put everything back the way it was. Thanks!

1 hour worth of work and I beleive they just pull the sensors (3 of them) and replace (nothing removed on engine). Mine goes in next week.

roger that...so it's not really involved? (i.e. pulling the cover off or removing the serpentine belt, etc.)...maybe they do it from the bottom?).

Pulling the cover off doesn't take much effort at all. I leave mine off as a matter of fact...

I just got this done. My car was done within 1 hour as stated. I told them i had hesitation on takeoff and they also repogrammed my ECU. WOW what a big difference it made, my car now feels like a V8. I am happy with my results. Good luck guys...

My dad said it only took 45 mins. The only thing they didn't do was reset the ECU, so we still have the SES light on

Deagle, so your SES light was already on when you brought it in, right?

This is kinda odd. I had heard this was to replace 3 sensors. I just called to make my appointment for next week and the SM said it was only for 1...crank sensor.

It's also 2 cam position sensors if I recall. Had it done last month and took about an hour.

There are 3 sensors total. Don't let the dealership try to say otherwise.

What do you think had made the difference in power... replacing the 3 sensors or reprogramming the ECU?

Maximan and Quicksilver, thanks for the info. Wife took it in about 2 hours ago, but it took them a bit longer (hour and 45 minutes) to complete the job. Anyway, she called to say that the engine seems to be running fine. A little smudge of dirt on the hood from the mechanic...other than that the "Maxie" survived the ordeal (so far).

I can tell you that "if" the sensors are truly malfunctioning, then there's no way the engine can make peak power (or actually, it could in theory make more power, but in our case, it's less power). The ECU is a chokepoint to our cars performance capabilities, but either getting a reflash or the TS ECU would easily solve those problems.

Deagle, that was perfect timing for you!

Got mine back on Friday...so far she seems to be running fine. I was a little concerned that the idle seemed to be just a little lower when sitting at a light...but then again the the outside temp here went from 35 degrees for nearly 70 degrees in just one day.
