2002 eyelids

I just finished my 2k2 light swap along with painting the housing a satin black, clearing out the orange reflector and ading some DDE's. Please excuse the quality as I only had my phone camera to do this with. What I want to show is the EYELID that I am thinking of mass producing for the max. I have made the template and have a temp set on my ride until I finish my project. If I get enough replys, I will make them for ORG. members.

I brought the eyelids right to where my DDE's stop. If I were to make them any thinner you would be able to see where the DDE's end. I always thought that my DDE's were a bit shorter than everyone elses on the org. It's an issue that has been bothering me. However, if you look at the second pic you can see that they really are not very thick.

I will make another template and try to make it a tiny bit thinner. The drag aboout this is that you may be able to see where the DDE's end. Whatever the case is I will shave 1/4 inch off the lower edge and see what that looks like.

One last word: Who would be able to live with these as they are?

I'll try to get a camera to post some better pics.

Would you make them in different body colors? I like how they blend to the body but not everyone has a black car.

I'd like to see better pictures. Higher resolution and clearer. Just FYI, Leftcoasttuning has already made eyelids for 2k2/2k3 HIDs.

does the eyelid wrap all the way around the back of the headlight and sit flush with the fender?

I'm guessing that they wouldn't come painted. If they did, that'd be cool.

Ok, it looks as some of you want a thinner eyelid. I will take the template and shave about 1/4 inch off it. Give ma a week or so and I will get back with some higher res pics of the new and thinner eyelid. If I make a bunch of these, I will not ask for deposits. I will use my own money. The price should not go over $50.00.

As far as Leftcoasts eyelids. Their first prototype set was really fugly. Then they chopped off the icicles, however, they didnt straighten out the lower part of the eyelid. There was still that drooping part next to the grille and it still looked a bit funny around the outer edge. If they had fixed that, I wouldn't have undertaken the project myself. Are leftcoast's eyelids available yet? Does anyone have them on their ride, and if so, post your pic.

If all goes well, I may even have the eyelids that I am making painted in several popular Maxima colors. However, one step at a time and my first step is to thin them out a bit. I'll be in touch.

Hey Ed!! I'm in. Maybe it'll even deter HID thieves to a lesser degree (on top of data dots/brackets and an alarm).

2k3, Post the pic of the "You've seen better eyelids" I haven't seen any eyelids for the max except for Leftcoast's, and Teddiebear703's, oh and that Guy who used electrical tape.

For now I used a thick vinyl. It took a few trys to get it perfect (no air bubbles), however, now that I made the template, I am going to cut a piece of plastic to the shape of the template, heat it and mold it around the light housing. I will then take that mold and make the eyelids out of whatever is easiest to work with, whether it be fiberglass, CF, urethane or even plastic.

ED, will you be kind enough and make some eyelids for us 2k owners? I'd love to get a pair of them. They look hot.
