My impressions of the Hotshot Headers
#42
[QUOTE=1SWT02]Just had the Hotshot headers installed and Wow! These things are great!
With the windows up it seems to be as quiet as it was stock and slightly louder with the windows down.[/QUOTE
i'm installing my HS headers next week
1swt02, did you notice any real gains throughout the rpm range?

Quick update: AutoLink was closed on Saturday due to a drift event, the dyno was re-scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Re: Traction The car rides on some 245/35 R19 Falkens and tracton wasn't a problem when launched normally @ low RPM's.

Ok, the unofficial dyno numbers are 20whp and 17lbs ft. Here's a link to the dyno.

Sounds good. Unfortunately that dyno chart is extremely hard to read. It looks like they did two runs of each setup and that the headers made power throughout the rpm range. What RPM does the chart start at? I can't read it.

The HS headers should work on a 2k/2k1 maxima just like the cattman headers do. You just have to relocate the o2 sensors behind the cat. Somebody correct me if im wrong!

what kind of dyno was this done on? were the numbers correct? what was the temp? was the car completely stock before and with the headers? no other mods whatsoever on all the runs correct? IF the car was completely stock and the only thing done was the headers those are some stout numbers. I'd like to hear some details though.

2kGLE: the temp is unimportant if the dyno was done properly. The SAE corrections will take care of this. The type of dyno does matter however, the best is the dynojet 238C. Also, mods do affect the final outcome, but not by much.....

The car was completely stock on both runs (stock tires, exhaust and intake). I did have an oil change in between but that couldn't have made a difference. One thing I did notice was the runs were done in third gear, is this right? I had heard something about fourth gear being the proper gear.
#71
well, on an automatic, the proper gear is 3rd (1.00:1 ratio) and 4th is the proper gear on a manual. If you lay down #s in third, they will be artificially high (esp the TQ). Also what model dyno did u use to do the test, and were the #'s u got SAE corrected??
#73
Corrections make a difference in that the #s are adjusted to a std temp and barometric pressure via an algorithm written into the software. Basically, If i run my max on a 105 degree day that is hot and humid here in miami, then make another run on a 50 degree, dry day somewhere else. The lower temp and drier air run will be significantly more powerful. Someone caught onto this, so the SAE made standard conditions and created formulas to adjust the #s so that anyone can compare dynos of similar cars (if they dynos are the exact same model and settings) even if one is on alaska and the other is in brazil. The mustang dyno usually reads higher than a Dynojet, and depending on what they have their sea level set to, it can be alot or a little. Post the exact before and after #s if u can. Thanks
PS: Im not knocking you or the work you did, believe me, it is much appreciated. I am just curious as to your scientific method. Therefore, when I get my headers, i can do the same test as you and compare my results.

Don't worry, this is my first time having a dyno done. I will ask the shop tomorrow regarding the corr. As for temp, is was pretty much the same, cool what it actually was, I don't know.
Just to let you know the 4th gear run, posted 251 Hp
