pads for powerslots

Hey guys....I've just ordered the powerslot rotors today. Only thing left to order are the pads. Those of you who already have the powerslots, what are you running for pads. I heard that the Hawks are noisy w/ the powerslots so I would rather not use those. Anyone using Axxis MM's?

advice:

HAWK PADS SUCK

I just got some bendix gt3 ceramic low dust lifetime warranty pads..imma try them and report back to you...they were cheap $46 at my local autobarn store so i figured, WTF-lifetime warranty on ceramic pads-can't go wrong

prob with hawks are-they are metal and metal to metal squeals - i cant deal with the noise-im goin to a ceramic pad

see how they are

(i dont think are too many orgers with 02-03's with powerslots so im testing the waters persay)

Well I'm in the same boat, gonna have to test the waters too( no punn intended). Brakes are vibrating, so I need to do them quick. Ceramic pads are probably softer material than the Harks then....if Hawks are more of a metal material. I just don't want to damage the rotors, don't really care if I have to replace pads once a year. How about OEM pads....they too are ceramic pads.

well at the going price of pads, i'm down to keep tryin until i get a set I can live with but at that same rate im gonna have to learn to change my own pads...

Someone posted a link inthe Group Deals forum to a company that sold the entire set of Axxis MM's for $73 shipped. I have the info at work. They have Powerslots for $150 for the front set and $170 for the rears. $25 for shipping. They are out of the rears. I'm going to order tomorrow.

Damn......I wish I knew there was a deal out there for the Power Slots. I thought I looked up and down the org. re: brakes. I just ordered my rotors yesturday from Custommaxima, and I just got them in today. Now thats what I call service!! I did see the deal for the Axxis Pads, and those are what I was thinking of rather than the Hawks. I wish there was someone out there that has these now and can give us the scoop on them w/ P.S.'s

Scorpium, are you running the Raybestos pads on Power Slots or just the OEM's? I'm not sure if there is a difference between the 2 rotors..........probably not.

Nice thing is, I just got back from the dealer getting my data dots done and I told the service advisor that my rotors were warped. He milled them down for free. Anyone in the Merrimack Valley area of Mass., if you need a good dealer I'll let you know who it is.

Where did you get the Rabestos and how much for all 4 pads? I've heard many say the Axxis are good as well.

Well, I guess my timing is off. I just had Power Slots rotors installed this past Tuesday with Hawk pads.

The brakes sounded terrible @ first but after 5 miles everything seems to be fine. I do experience slight squeeking under lite application (not hard apps) but DAMN!! These things are WAYYYY better than OEM stoppers.

I have Raybestos QS pads and they are very good with noise... although I'm currently using them with Raybestos rotors, and they warp like crazy. I'm gonna have the rotors turned one more time and then hold out for the BlehmCo BBK for stock 5th gen calipers.
I highly advise you use Raybestos QS on the rears for low-noise. Pep Boys is the main shop that carries them. Advance Auto and Autozone do not, if I recall.

I am trying EBC Greenstuff Pads from
http://performance.speedycarparts.com. I have heard Hawk, Stillen and Axxis are noisy as hell. I am hoping to find something that brakes good and is fairly quiet.

Thanks!! Luckily, my Maxima isnt a daily driver so it may be a while before I start seeing this deterioration. If it does get that bad, I'll probably go EBC Green Stuff next.

Funny thing is, the installer @ Goodyear told me that performance pads all tend to squeal vs. OEM pads. Go figure.

I have powerslots with Axxis Metal Masters. I don't recommend this combination. They're pretty loud. But then again I drive in L.A. traffic everyday so my brakes overheat quite often.

Loud or squeal? My order won't go in until tommorow, so I'm a little worried. I've read fantastic things on both, but not together as a pair.

I'm thinking now that I might do EBC greenstuff for the front pads (they don't make rear pads for our cars, I checked) and either Raybestos QC or OEM ceramic or another type of ceramic pad for the rear. Still searching around!

Everyonethat is using the Hawk Pads or Axxis pads, did you guys do the proper brake-in procedure for the rotors? Just wondering if not doing it or doing it incorrectly would result in the squeling!

Break-in (or more correctly stated, pad bedding-in procedures) are the same regardless of the type of pad or rotor you get, and it's really simple: a series of 5 or 6 moderately hard stops from around 60 to around 20 with good, firm hard braking...about three-quarters of the way to lock-up or ABS activation.

Dont let the car come to a complete stop and accelerate moderately to the 55-60 MPH speed so the rotor has a chance to cool a bit -but not all the way- before the next braking cycle.

I'm using the Raybestos QS compound on my Wilwood calipers and they are quiet, soft and smooth pads that dont dust much at all.

What are the Raybestos QS part numbers for the fronts and rears? Pep Boys only carry the fronts.
